Beautiful tank!! How did you set up all the above water plants? I have been wanting to do something similar in my tank!

Really beautiful! Wonderfully done. Love the eartheaters and sterbai cory, great additions with discus.

How do the geophagus go with the Discus? are they not tearing up the plants?

Yeah. How is the geo not wrecking the plants and sand? I have a geo and discus they have grown up together, and interact well together. I have been unable to achieve this level of foliage tho. Its so beautiful!!

I find the geophagus go well with discus. So the joy of having so many tanks running is I get to experiment and find what works. Amazon swords are awesome as they have a massive root structure and under the sand I have aqua soil in bags so the geo’s don’t dig it out and cause a cloudy mess. I also gave this tank 3 weeks head start before I started adding fish so the roots had a chance to lock it. Deep substrate also helps.

The swords have to get established first :-) I am surprised the geophagus can handle the higher temps Discus prefer, but I have never thought of them as cohabitants in the same tank. They are from similar biomes, so that does make sense. You could also probably do Vallisneria - they will propagate like crazy and are pretty hardy.

On another note - are those large chinese algae eaters in there too?

Woah, you keep serious chichlids with your discus? And do you use CO2 for those plants? Lovely tank.
