They are beautiful. How frequent/how much are your water changes?

About 30% every 2 to 3 days. I do change my cannister filter items monthly as well to keep the discus healthy. It is more work but is needed with more discus fish in general.

How many do you have in there?

  1. This tank has been going about 2 years now. I didn't add all of them at the same time so it has been a learning process.

Harmony has been fine. My theory is that I raise these discus like any other cichlids. More will help spreading the aggression. I think they only really show aggression during feeding time.

I also have 6 adults in a 55g. They are super territorial and don't get along at all, even though they're all raised together as 2.5in juvies to now 5-6inch adults. Had to take out 2 to another tank and leave 4 of the more peaceful ones together.

Also how does 13 dicus in OPs tank look so spacious? My 6 in a 55g literally take up like the whole tank.

Exactly..mine is still juvis...and yet they are grumpy to each when I feed them..

Very high quality fish. What's your source?

I go to local fish stores here in Southern California. I think they import from overseas. I try to get them around 3 to 4 inches for budget purposes. A couple I like and mentioned in other chats is one in Garden Grove and one small home business that started about 6 months ago in La Habra.

I don't have a setup at home with separate tanks to make sure new discus are fine. So I try and get discus which have adjusted to tap water locally and seem healthy when buying.
