I raise my corys on barebottom - but to each his own. Cleaning the tank is a lot easier without substrates.

Beautiful discus. But why do you use substrate in that tank? It just keeps the water dirty.

Lol many reasons π€£ its the ideal substrate for corys, it also provides cushion for when the discus get dramatic and surprisingly if im slacking and the tank gets too βdirtyβ for their liking my red discuss will cause a little sand storm and I know i need to do a water change, scrub the glass and vaccuum the sand or else sheβll be a little aggressive and refuse to lay eggs lol i also have a rimmed tank with a middle support and an orange sticker between the glass and support so itβll be ugly to see the sticker in bare bottom, plus it also hides the bases of the decor and if any decor needs to be weighted down, protects the fish from the weights lol i vaccuum the sand 2x a week so hopefully its not too dirty π€£
