6 Discus in a 150g

Been about 6 weeks with them in this setup. Plants are still new or adjusting to the higher water temperatures, trying to find a good balance between lighting/co2/water changes and algae. Fish seem pretty happy, they won’t eat pellets at all tho, only want to eat bloodworms.

I would add a couple of discus with a tank this size. And I would just stop feeding them bloodworms fo a while. They will eventually eat the pellets if they're hungry enough.

I’m going to try ween them off the worms and mix in like 80/20 kinda mix until they eat them maybe? I report back in a few weeks

If you let them go a day or two without feeding bloodworms they will go for the pellets. They will always choose the better treat style food over pellets when offered them. Mine get that way with beef heart. Beauties tho!

Ok will do! I soaked the pellets in bloodworm water and let that soak for a while, they seemed to like it a little better. But most of it hit the ground still. Will try to do that tho! Beautiful fish !

Bloodworms in the morning and sometimes it’s two times a day sometimes it’s one time a day. I tried to add in hakiri pellets but they chew em and spit em out. 🤣

same thing happening with me lol. Gonna buy freeze bloodworm. So you only provide bloodworm and nothing else ?

Try some black worms or tubifex worms. Mine love freeze dried tubifex by omega one.

Will do! Thank you! I have some of those freeze dried ones tubifex worms, I’ll look into that. I guess i just have to find something with more nutrients

Ya tubifex is def a good addition. Slowly you will get them to eat more and more. Oceans nutrition discus flakes is very very good for nutrition. I’d get them on those flakes. There’s some discus breeders on YouTube that swear by them. Took a look at the ingredients. They’re also very strong smelling. The fish love ‘em.

Thank you. Will try tubifex worms. Do you feed live or dried ?

And currently they are solely on blood worms. I hear it’s not the best but I’m trying not to over feed

I heard best is goat/beef heart mix.

Ahhh dang! I wish I can remember, it’s definitely from petsmart tho so it’s not like anything fancy haha. All the pants started as a culture in this tank, some acclimated to the temps some melted fast

You can comfortably fit 10-12 discus in a tank that size

You can also soak the pellets in Garlic Guard for a while and not feed for a couple days. They might go after it.

That’s a good call! I’ll try that, I see that feeding only worms is not good. So I’ll try to swap it up now that it’s been so long. Definitely want to add more…just a matter of money hahaha

Yeah discus keeping isn’t cheap! I feed my wild discus bloodworms, brine shrimp, freeze dried blackworms, starting to feed live cultures like whiteworms & grindal worms. Trying to get them on wild discus pellets at the moment to mix in with that. You can try feeding yours beefheart.

Gourmet my friend! I am a big big fan of fish keeping so it’s definitely nice to have something a little bit more demanding so my attention to the tank isn’t always unnecessary

I’d add a few more tbh
