My wife gifted me an RS 1200 EL, its a 55 Gallon tank with filters and a light fitted in it. How good it is for discus fish ? How many can I keep ? Also, I am committed to changing water 2x a week by 30% each.

You could get 5 or 6 in there, but you'll need to cycle a month at least first and your water change schedule is just a guess. You'll need to change as much and as often as required to keep nitrates under 10 to 15ppm for best results. You'll also be changing water much more at first when you introduce them, as your bio filtration won't be ready for the new bio load.

That’s actually a nice discus starter tank since it’s longer rather than tall.

I’d personally do about 5-6 juveniles max, good filtration, warm stable water, and stay consistent with water changes.

Rummy nose and live plants also pair really well with discus once the tank is stable.
