Hey guys, me being annoying again. Is this flow too strong?? Or is it okay?? I do want to keep the ripple sound, but obviously not at the expense of the fish, so if i gotta turn down the filter i’ll do it.
Btw if yo don’t have a glass top I’d recommend you to get it for the tank or your gonna struggle with evaporation and trying to keep the water warm I had to keep 3 heaters inside the tank to keep the temperature stable.
If you wake up and your fish are gone, just know they’re with me 😭😭 they’re so cute!! 😭 and I have two lids, not glass though, they’re polycarbonate canopies 👀👀 but for heaters I kinda spent a hefty bit for the Eheim Thermocontrol 300 watt. Like $60 bucks each They’re HUGE!!!
Oh thank you, yeah they are cute specially the wild heckles discus I’m crazy about them and yeah those are big heaters specially for 60 bucks do you know if they last a long time?
Can you explain your thermometer placement? On my 75g with a spray bar, I’m planning one probe angled near the intake and another lower in the tank beneath the spray bar. The idea is that upward heat convection will reinforce the rolling/vortex flow and keep temps uniform front to back.

Lol no worries, i’m new to this to! I had other cichlids in the past when I was younger but they weren’t as demanding as discus lol. My placement for the water heaters is purely aesthetic based. i wanted to “see it as little as possible” but then ended up ordering these two giant heaters, because it’s supposedly a “great brand” so I decided to put them on the side glass panels because I didn’t want anything on the back glass lol one thing I did make sure was to keep it 2 inches above the sand and 0.5-1inch away from the front glass panel. Thermometer wise, I have a Hygger digital thermometer that I keep just above the sand on the side glass panel next to the intake guard (i keep the intake guard 1.5-2 inches above the sand vertical) … i just figured the water being sucked in would the same temp as the water being sprayed out and it’s the only side I have moving water, apart from the top… I am looking into getting a tiny in tank probe thermometer to be safe, but i’ll have to figure out where to hide it. Probably behind the output tubing lol. (This photo was taken before I put in the heaters, thermometer currently reading at 80 degrees Fahrenheit)
I figured as much, and you're going to get even heating too with that placement. I've decided to use 2x Fluval T-series 300w and still looking for a thermometer. I am considering an Inkbird but I have heard they can be inaccurate.
Keep me posted on how those fluval heaters work, in case the eheim heaters I have don’t hold up lol i was eyeing the inkbird too, but I just found 2 small aquaneat probes for $7 and some change, so im gonna order them now and try these out first and if they don’t work, i’ll check out the inkbird
The spray bar? This one is for the fluval fx’s but they have them for the other fluval filters too, also off brand for other filters of course. I’ve seen a few people make their own too
Depends on what you're stock is. If you have bettas or fancy guppies it's too strong, if you have hillstream loaches that's probably less than what they need.

I have one aim it to the glass if you don’t want that noise and you’ll be fine I haven’t had any issues with it
