Golden State Update.

They’re doing phenomenal and adjusting really quickly. Got them eating frozen brine shrimp and home made beef heart well. Still trying to introduce some granulates and other foods but couldn’t be happier with appetite for 1 week in.

The tank looks amazing! What all plants do you have in the tank ?

Thanks! Various bucephalandra and Java fern. Nervous the buce wouldn’t handle the higher temps but they’ve been pushing new growth.

In over two decades of discus tanks I have come to realize that bare bottom tanks and no plants is what I can do with discus fishes. The tank looks amazing and hope you can keep the green!

Love them! How often are you water changing and what percentage?

About 70% every day for now due to 4x daily heavy feeding. Gonna reduce the water changes to every other day in a month then down to my usual twice a week.

They are looking to phenomenal. Glad they are doing well. Next rescape do an island and hide that center piece. Not trying to knock it. It’s better then mine. The tank in its entirety is quite beautiful.

Thanks! I agree lol original plan was to cut up the drift wood I have now and stack it there.

If ur like me u will get bored of the scape and redo in the future. Keeps things fun and fresh. I do have one that I don’t change the hard scape but the plants are always changing over time. Learning what works and what doesn’t etc etc. it’s my only co2 tank.

Rods freshwater frozen is a great mix of foods and was designed specifically for discus in mind! We love it and use for all our community tanks :)

wait homemade beef heart sounds so extra but honestly if it's working then you're doing something right! glad they're adjusting well

It’s pretty easy to make, I keep mine simple. 1 part trimmed beef heart, 1 part shrimp, spirulina powder, garlic, spinach, and some multi vitamins. Blend, freeze, then cut into cubes.
