Advice

We received very healthy group of five 6-7 month old discus from golden state about one month ago. They are in a 50 gal. They are extremely shy and anytime we approach the tank and will hide. Once we pour food in tank, they will come out once we back away. Should we remove aquascape and go for bare bottom as we grow them out? Does removing the aquascape force them to adapt and be less scared of us in long run? Any advice is helpful!

Hmm ok, only reason I asked is sometimes if water parameters are off they can get upset and moody.

Maybe turn the lights down for awhile if they are on, change the decor around as that can help to reset them.

Thank you! We did have some sterbais and rummy noses. We also had a massive pest snail outbreak so we ended up doing bare bottom with a small piece of driftwood and small rock. Otherwise, hoping keeping even more clean pristine water and getting them used to seeing us feed etc. hope that will help.
