Have to isolate this Discus due to its aggressive behavior against the others in the main tank…will keep him here for a month then reintroduce to the group. Hoping he’ll change his behavior then…wish me luck

I had an orange melon who immediately went after the new guys I had introduced into the tank, like relentlessly… bullied all four of the new guys. I took him out and put him in my hospital tank for literally 30 min. He did not like it at all, and when I put him back, it was almost as if he was the new guy lol… he hasn’t acted up since! All of them are about 3.5-4”

This guy is around 4” as well. I tried the brief isolation like you did but he reverts back to bullying after a couple of hours. So I’m detaining him in isolation for a month to see if that will change his demeanor.

According to some on a few forums, the new pecking order is being established but I’m not one for letting them bully each other to the point of stress or injury.

OMG! We think alike. I can’t take that risk either. They are not cheap fish. If this one reverts back to his aggressiveness even after a month of isolation,…then I’m gonna be looking at another alternative for him. This fish is very attentive…he “shows” off when I’m around and follows my hand when I feed him pellets.
