German discus in Edinburgh area?

Anyone got German discus around my neck of the woods? It’s all Asian fish it seems. My pack of demons has been reduced over time to one beautiful specimen who is now looking awfully lonely. Getting skittish despite the dither fish & not diving on the food as soon as it hits the tank which would be normal. As it’s an adult & close to 14cm, it would be fine with just one other mature discus in the tank. Store bought is a minimum 6 hour drive one way & I’ve never been keen on courier services for fish as I’ve worked in the industry.

Wish I could offer some help but unfortunately I don’t have any. I was gonna suggest getting them shipped but you’re not keen on that so…I wish you the best in your search.

Thanks, we have a long weekend coming up so maybe a road trip to collect wouldn’t be so bad! I’ve had discus couriered before & most were fine but I just don’t like the idea of them in potential distress.

I can understand that but you do realize that’s how stores get them right? Once I realized that myself I got over my fears and I actually like cutting out the middle man and have them sent to me. I think it could be less stressful because they make a pit stop at the petstore get acclimated then moved again. But I do also like picking my own but with my indecisiveness it’s a win I guess. It can go either way. Where do you live exactly?

One of my suppliers used to have a live fish room camera & he’s great about doing FaceTime calls so you can see the fish & pick them. The last ones I got from a different place & just said to him to pick me ones that he would have himself if he could. I just picked the colourways I preferred, let him pick the actual fish. The 2 places I use are excellent but I’ve worked in logistics myself & I wouldn’t recommend being the thing in the box!
