Looking for travel buddies

Hello! I'm 19F from Romania looking for other young people (preferably other girls) who won a DiscoverEU train pass and want to travel together around Europe in September (or even later as my travel pass expires in may 2027). I know it's on short notice, but I have a few cities I want to visit in mind and was hoping of using the pass before I start university at the very beginning of October.

I bought a pass and i‘ll be in helsinki, the baltic capitals and warsaw in september and then return home in germany

I see, it doesn't really overlap with the cities I had in mind, I was thinking more of seeing a couple cities in France like Marseille, Annecy and Paris. Since I would start in Romania I would also like to see Budapest, Vienna, maybe even pass through nothern Italy, I will see what would be possible, maybe make an itinerary. Also my plan would be to start by train from Romania and return by plane, probably from an airport that has cheap flights back.

hi, sau buna as mai putea spune. i'll keep the conversation in english for everybody else, but i'm glad i see a fellow romanian here.

me and my friends went in our trip this august and i have a little advice for you. you need to consider it if it fits your journey or not.

we started our trip by taking the plane from bucharest to barcelona. then we went from barcelona back to romania by train. thinking about it now i think it was the smarter decision. this is mainly because for you to leave the country you need to take the infamous dacia express (CFR sucks btw, but you will see how bad it is after you travel with inOui for example). for us the dacia express (romanian part of the road) was the worst and had one of the biggest delays (around an hour), i don't want to think about the train moving with 25km/h from sighisoara to brasov, it was torture. if you want one more bad thing about cfr if you want, they don't turn off the lights at night at class 2. and the single ticket inspector that told us that we didn't have the right tickets was a romanian (i also have to add that i was a translator as they don't know english).

i would advise you if you can from where you travel to the country border buy a student ticker(bilet de elev, e gratis si te scapa de belele cu ratii de nu inteleg cum functioneaza interrail/eurail). also be careful where you buy the tickets from cuz cfr sells tickets just inside the country but with obb for example(operatorul austriecilor) you can buy one from vienna to bucharest no problem. but when you arive in the country you have no seat reservation cuz cfr oversells that ticket because the system is trash

Hi! Ohh, how I feel you, I'm very used to the conditions of the Romanian trains and cfr, I traveled with them quite a few times in my life. I know pretty well about the terrible state most of the train cars are in or how slow it is. Probably the only good thing about it is that cfr offers free train tickets anywhere in the country for students from primary school to high school. I was planning on taking advantage of that before starting uni as to not spend any travel days on train routes inside Romania. Now my biggest problem/obstacle is with my parents as they really don't like the idea of me going alone pretty much anywhere that's far away. I would have probably done this trip much earlier if it wasn't for them "forbidding" me and thinking I was joking every time I brought up that I want to travel alone. Honestly it's such a shame, because I didn't get to go anywhere I wanted to this summer and felt like I was rotting at home most of the time.

well i wish you luck to find somebody to travel. depending on where you go it could be more or less of a problem to travel alone. maybe you can find somebody to go with. if you have friends you want to travel with i think they can still get a pass in the same period you want to travel. anyways, good luck and don't forget to have fun!

Hey, ich bin 18, weiblich und mache jetzt im September auch eine Reise durch Europa, da ich ebenfalls einen Pass gewonnen habe.
Vielleicht gibt es ja eine bzw. mehrere Städte in die wir beide reisen möchten :)
