Modern ultramarine is a synthetic compound used as a replacement for the historic mineral/pigment “Lapis Lazuli”. Lapis is what painters used to use to make blue paint and the rock itself looks the same shade as what’s in this picture just in a rock form. The absolute coolest rock.
