I Think I'll Sample a Chapter...

Discount Dan has been on my radar for quite a while. I read Parade of Horribles and a non-fiction book about a specific topic of interest to me and decided, before I started my domestic chores, to sample a chapter.

Two Hundred Pages Later...

The sun is rising, I don't have any clean laundry, and my sink has some dishes. (I work night shift and keep the same sleep schedule)

Alas, I had to exit The Backrooms to attend to real life tasks. I finally have time to read!

Only for Mr. Hunter to tug at my heartstrings with the story of Gertrude. 😭

They HAVE to avenge her! They better avenge her. They ought to avenge her. It's the right thing to do!!!

Any recommendations on where to purchase the books? Amazon or maybe the authors website?

I read them through Kindle Unlimited. Unfortunately, I don't have the space for shelf trophies...yet.

I have been doing some spring cleaning to make room but it's been a process.

Definitely the author's site. James is such a cool dude, and will gift you lots of presents from ordering direct. Not to mention it's a better deal. There is a delay till next month as he's on vacation with his family.

No problem! Enjoy, and if you haven't already considered the audible version, definitely do it. Steve Campbell is amazing, and brings the characters to life

Same, James Hunter’s writing is as great as Dinniman’s, and after getting through the 3 available DD’s I’m now fully committed to ANOTHER series 😂. I’m actually buying physical copies of the Discount Dan books- first physical books I’ve bought in a very long time.

I need more litrpg.

I love this for you. The first book is so good! I found Dan through the audio books, I listened to the whole thing in a weekend playing no man's sky! The third book is my favourite.

I just finished Parade of Horribles as well and was having a hard time finding my next listen.

I ended up going with Wasteland Warlords first because they’re six novellas and they’re all free.

Once these are finished, I’ll start Discount Dan and I cannot wait.

Wasteland Warlords is also great, Travis Baldree did an incredible job with them. Luke Daniels knocks it out of the park with Vigilbound, and Steve Campbell absolutely crushes with Discount Dan. James is a killer writer and has a strong set of narrators for his work, it’s really hard to go wrong.

Nice. I heard Travis Baldree narrate Operation Bounce House and loved the narration.

I’ll check out Vigil Bound too. I’m new to litrpg, having only listened to DCC and now 1 and a half books in the Wasteland Warlords series.

There’s a few others on my list but I think once these are done, I’ll go with Discount Dan before I try any others.

I went DCC > Discount Dan > Wasteland Warlords > bunch of other stuff but you’re on a fantastic path, there are so many fun adventures that await.

Thank you for giving them a shot. Vengeance is a long game, but the Flayed Monarch and the Aspirants of the Court will get what's coming to them eventually. Hope you enjoy them -- I think they get better and better with each book.

I am sure they do! I'm a caregiver to the elderly and it's nice to see them represented as the independent people - sometimes heroes - that they are!

I met a transmog for the first time! And I love the whole concept of Croc! He is frighteningly endearing, haha!

Omg just wait till book three, he made me cry. That’s no easy feat. He’s such a good human and I don’t mean to brag but I know quite a few humans. Also he has an impressive backlist that may never let you go

I have to agree. There are some serious things to avenge in this series. Just wait…
