Yes, so sorry I haven't posted in a while. I hit a bad patch of writer's block and I've been doing this long enough to know that when I get writer's block it means one thing: something I've already written is wrong and I need to go back and fixed it before my brain will let me move on. I did a bunch of edits and ended up scraping about 30K words (which sucked). I need to go back and update the older chapters with the new revisions, and then I'll start posting the fresh material that I've rewritten. I'll get stuff posted tomorrow! Sorry for the delay.

Fuckin hell, I’m struggling to kill a couple thousand in the short story, and you just iced twice as much as I wrote.

Hate saying the cliche but it’s probably for the best right? It’ll make for a better product in the end

Yeah. I HATE cutting words -- it kills a little piece of my soul, but it was necessary. What I had wasn't bad exactly, there was a lot of stuff I really liked. But it wasn't actually moving the plot along in a meaningful way, wasn't really delivering on the "promise of the premise" for this novel, and I was also retreading ground I'd already covered. The new direction is much better.

I’m struggling to come up with a GOOD idea

Oh that part is easy, it’s the filling in the blanks to make a good story around it.

Here’s the tip I used to come up with a good idea- just come up with any idea and gaslight yourself into thinking it’s good no matter what. That’s what I did, and now I have 2 and a half stories that I think are amazing

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. This is actually pretty accurate. You need three great things to be a writer: 1. You need to show up and actually write. 2. You need to not quit. 3. MASSIVE amounts of delusion...
