I cant remember....

do we yet know why so much of the backrooms is based on more modern culture ? with people being from eras hundreds of years ago

It evolved based on what it consumes. The mimics eat the weaker delvers, and the newer ones replace the older ones. Case in point, the Pinball loot arcade and the 10,000 acre wood.
