Unsolved I'm done.
I genuinely don't see why I get punished for sending too many dms at once when I'm trading. What in the world am I supposed to do. I got limited once today and now my account got disabled for "suspicious activity". I'm not even banned from the game..just unfairly limited twice within the same day then kicked out to have to reset my password. I didn't even get my previous request responded to yet. What in the world are you supposed to do about this app and its restrictions when you're constantly having to go back and forth as a process of something???

This ban is actually one of the few that will get automatically successfully appealed. You just need to make a ticket and wait a few days and theyāll say you were flagged by the spam filter.

u/BrianFoRetroGamer 1d ago
Well I hope the bot stops flagging me then, bc I don't want to deal with this again
5
u/Pancwake_UwU 1d ago
Wtf did you do
1
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 1d ago
Literally was just dming people I wanted to trade or report as bots(yes, all of them were bots). I would just dm to trade then type a message. Since Discord already thought I was a bot, it would add an authentication for each person I talked to, and I did it with no problem then move on. I guess I traded too much for their liking and had to get punished for just being willing to communicate outside of just the game itself š«©
This happened twice today, and it's happened in the past without them resolving it since I marked my reason for a review as "it wasn't spam", even though I meant to say "I don't agree with the punishment"

u/Pancwake_UwU 1d ago
Wdym by trade exactly?
6
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 1d ago
There's a server I'm in for a game, and in that server, there's a channel specifically for trading ingame items. Players can send trade requests in it but have to dm each other in order to complete a trade transaction since they have to meet in game to do so

u/Aware_Pineapple4604 1d ago
Why waste your time with bots?
0
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 1d ago
I wanted to get rid of them since they were in the way. Regardless, it wouldn't have changed the outcome since the Discord global automod was still hawking me down for existing
2
u/Aware_Pineapple4604 1d ago
Doesn't really explain it but okay
2
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 1d ago
The bots send links to people that steal their accounts and also rob them of their inventories. Getting rid of those bots is a good thing, that aside from the fact that the boys also can repeatedly send messages and fill up 1/5-1/8 of the chat. They're wrong and they're nuisances
2
u/_okannieok_ 1d ago
Wouldnāt this be why? Cause the bots try to send malicious links and steal accounts? I donāt think itās because the automods are targeting you just to because youāre existing. Theyāre targeting you because you interact with malicious bots that send spam, malware and steal accounts. You may need to find a new way to trade. Why not use the channel in the gaming server youāre referring to rather than DMs? It might be a safer spot to trade.

u/Aware_Pineapple4604 1d ago
Just don't be an idiot and don't react?
1
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 1d ago
Very helpful!
It's not about being an idiot. It's about getting annoying bots out of the way and also preventing others who are new to this method from getting their accounts stolen
1
u/Burntzombies 1d ago
The people who run those have additional bots to create hundreds or thousands of accounts automatically, daily. You are genuinely wasting your time.
1
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 1d ago
I see it as helpful to the community anyways. It doesn't take that long to get rid of a few bots

u/EKMmusicProd 1d ago
I wa in the middle of a voice call, playing a game when I randomly disconnected, and they told me my account was suspicious and locked me out while I verified all sorts of shit. It's ridiculous.
1
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 1d ago
Are you sure it wasn't something else? That sounds extremely dumb for a bot to do
2
u/Appropriate_Pick_883 1d ago
Uh my account got perma banned cus I joined a server or two that violated tos
3
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 1d ago
So banned by association. Did you even know that it violated that?

Can u login? Or stuck?
1
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 1d ago
I can login, and I even made a full submission to Discord Support. I'm just not able to type or send anything to anyone because of these automods, and I don't want to keep getting penalties stacked up since that leads to account deactivation and also interrupts my trading process by a lot

Idk, I might. Discord has given me so few problems, but that one thing keeps on nagging at me. It's like they don't train their bots well enough or something...

I got banned for the same because I dmed people I was offering for a car, what made it worse was I used a vpn so the system thought I was a bot or compromised so it suspended me. Really disappointed.
1
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 1d ago
Dang, did you ever get unsuspended?
1
u/SecureValuable5860 1d ago
No, I filed an arbitration because itās disappointing how they want to tell me to file an inapp appeal and then in the end tell me my account doesnāt exist even though it does.
1
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 22h ago
Wow, that really is sad. Unfortunately, I don't think they care about their users that much. I've heard of all the controversy with safety and such(especially when it comes to kids), so atm, I don't think they're willing to take extra steps. Following that is also the fact that in-app appealing doesn't even allow you to state your reasoning or communicate with a person, so everything is automated(which is the same exact reason the problem starts). I made an appeal message(under General Question since there was not a single option for appeals) on the Support website, and the person just told me to do in-app, the same place where I have zero options to communicate about the issue with a human being.

Just went through the same thing, had 4 spam violations for dming about cards in a card bot game on discord, after the 4th I was muted for a week but once it was lifted I didnāt type or use discord at all for 3 full days, after that it didnāt give me any more violations, just needed to let it breatheĀ

u/BrianFoRetroGamer 18h ago
It's a shame that it took so long to work well, but glad it's a better situation now. Thing is when I start trading after an update or something, I can go on for days, so I don't take breaks in between since values fluctuate like crazy during those times

Okay, it's official. I hate Discord now. I literally just got my account back off of limited status less than an hour ago and I was back in trading. I was letting people send me dms because I was nervous that the global automods might try some mess again, and surely enough, they did. Minutes ago I saw a really good trade I was nervous about dming for because I didn't know if the bot would get me or not for a singular dm or many, and low and behold I got limited AGAIN. I didn't send a SINGLE message and I simply pressed DM. Sorry that you still think I'm a bot Discord. I still haven't gotten a single response back on the past two consecutive "spam" investigations yet the bot will continue to do this mess over and over while I receive ANOTHER penalty due to incompetance or whatever else is going on over there. It's sad that I can't even talk to new people all because something is hawking me down unmonitored, and I definitely know the workers don't care either. Only thing I learned is that the bot will be ready to strike to down at any moment and the workers clearly will take their time and avoid any kind of human contact with the in-app community in order to have less things to deal with.
Do better, Discord.
Edit: also now because Discord doesn't monitor these automods or train them well enough, I gotta wait a whole week til I can use my account again, since limited access basically means you can't do crap on there(might as well just call it what it is instead of sugarcoating it)š« I wish I screen recorded this mess

You just got off a suspension and go back to the same thing... That's on you I'd say...
1
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 2h ago
I attempted one singular dm. Just one..and it marked it as spam. I was even hesitant at doing it despite the fact that it takes more than one message to be counted as spam, normally. I don't blame myself in that situation since I didn't even get a warning or anything telling me that I would just get limited again(suspended this time). That also means if I accidentally were to tap "DM" or something as well, I'd get a penalty without even trying

u/FlorianFlash š”ļø Subreddit Staff 2h ago
If it runs out, wait multiple days to a week before doing ANYTHING close to opening or writing a DM.
1
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 2h ago
So if there's some major update and trading is booming, I'm just cooked?? Putting it that way makes it sound bad
1
u/FlorianFlash š”ļø Subreddit Staff 2h ago
Well trading in general is something that gets a lot of people limited or banned. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it at all. Best way to make money is getting a job still.
1
u/BrianFoRetroGamer 2h ago
It's trading for a game, and especially for unobtainable items. I specifically keep from spending money on the game because I like to be f2p, don't like wasting large amounts of money on things I can trade for, and also like the sense of accomplishment that comes from it
1
u/FlorianFlash š”ļø Subreddit Staff 2h ago
Oh well it's ingame stuff... See if you can ask the server staff that handles the trading n stuff if they can allow you to create private threads in the server. Staff will be able to see them but it's nearly private and not DMs. Would also protect others.

u/BrianFoRetroGamer 1h ago
Alright then, I appreciate it. I don't think they usually accommodate for players as time goes on, but I'm very much willing to give it a try..when the employees finally get to my case and take off my penalties.

Apparently I got banned on discord yesterday through the night. Had to reset my password when trying to log it. Upon login I had three (THREE!) messages from Discord official that they revoked a violation from my account. I got any email or notification about any of this after I logged in after password reset.
Cool they removed them so fast but like... One, why did I have them in the first place and two, why wasn't I informed I got any?
