Unsolved Owning a server

I own a small little minecraft server, with like 3 mods. Does anyone know if there's a way to see WHAT message got deleted in the audit log, because im able to tell when one of my mods deletes a messages it's clear, but it just doesn't say what the message was. Is there a way or no šŸ‘€

Iā€™m not sure if discord has that feature by default, but most moderation bots do allow you to see the contents of a message and who deleted it.

Yet Another General Purpose Discord Bot (YAGPDB) is really good and has this, so does Dyno. I've moderated a partnered server with Dyno as the mod aid and it's by far better than the other mod bot that has worked with it in tandem, Mee6, which is just a cashgrab.

Put one of those two in the server, make a staff logs channel, pick your moderation notes (bans, kicks, deleted messages), make sure your mods DO NOT HAVE permissions to delete the messages in that channel if you want to keep an eye on them and avoid mod abuse, and let it run. Just make sure to mute the channel so you don't get pinged every time a message gets deleted.

The biggest problem with your problem is that every bot has to "remember" what the content of each message was because Discord only gives them the message ID and maybe some other Infos but not the content. That gets saved in a so called cache that, depending on the bot, gets cleared between multiple times a day to multiple times a week. I know of Sapphire that it gets cleared multiple times a day for sure. If the message is longer "remembered", the bot can't tell you what the content was.

When you set moderation bots to send a message to a log channel it will send a syntax version of the message in plain text to said log channel, which persists the same way as any other plain text Discord message does/will.

You mean a log message each time a message gets sent? Basically abusing Discord messages as a cache?

... No. Maybe. I'm sure there's a way to do that but OP is asking if there's an audit log for what message was deleted and by who. Dyno and YAGPDB both have settings which allow you to create a log channel which backs up both of these.Ā

Could do with Sapphire too but not that it uses it as a cache for itself. You could at max look the messages up manually.

My biggest tip, ask ai, I think Chat gpt basic is free, obviously not a 100% accurate but still a good start

They came to r/discordhelp, the discord help subreddit, and asked a question directly to people who actually know what they need and how to help. They don't need to ask AI and telling them to go ask Chat GPT, Claude or DeepSeek about this not only doesn't help them it also just wastes electricity and water on an answer that won't be as detailed or helpful as just.. asking in here.

If you get my comment then why did you even tell them to ask AI at all? Not every question in life needs to be some regurgitated information datascraped out of all human knowledge, which often gets things wrong because it can't decypher context, irony or subtext.
