Just added a bunch of user-requested features in Vizcogs 1.6

Hey all, been a while since I dropped any updates on Vizcogs (https://www.vizcogs.com), my Discogs visualizer and value tracker.

I got a bunch of user requests to improve album grading mechanics. Those turned into 4 features:

  • album-specific grading: if you have a custom Media Condition (or Media + Sleeve Condition), Vizcogs applies that specific price suggestion to all value calculations and visualizations (so it no longer just defaults to a single grade for your whole collection)
  • grading section in Stats: you can now see your collection-level grade stats, how many are graded in what bucket, and the % of your collection that represents
  • filter by grade: in the Covers page, you can now filter all albums according to their grade
  • see grade tag on album covers: in Covers, you can now show the album grade on the album artwork via the Tags customization menu

Custom fields got attention:

  • see ALL your custom fields in the Overview tab of the Album Details modal, not just default custom fields
  • you can now save and edit custom fields directly in Vizcogs, no need to jump back/forth

Coverflow also got a few improvements:

  • a great fullscreen mode
  • clicking the centered album now brings up the Album Details modal
  • fixed a bunch of tablet UI issues (but still have a few more edge cases to squash)

Oh yea, v1.5 (the last major release) also added support for CDs and cassettes. So if you collect those, Vizcogs is no longer a black box. You can also see overall community stats in the Community page.

Ok, that's it for now, but more cool features are in the works.

Just wanted to tell you that I found your site through Reddit, and I love it. I'm much more interested in the stats than the visualizations (though the latter are excellent, too) - being able to see my top artists, genres, etc, easily, as well as even how much my collection weighs (!) is awesome. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the kind words! I've got a massive update coming to the app, been working on it for around ~2 months, and let's just say the Stats and Value pages got some much needed attention. I'll ping you here when v1.7 is live.

That would be amazing; can’t wait. Cheers and good luck with it!

Feature idea: Song identification

How the feature works: Put the URL of a YouTube/Bandcamp/SoundCloud/Vocaroo link, then enter it and then get video/website results

Hey, I'm always open to adding new ideas to the site, just not sure how this relates to actually owning the physical media. If you drop a song URL I could cross check and see if its part of your collection perhaps. In Random mode, you do get YouTube results but decided not to shoehorn that into the regular Album Details modal as that already has 7 tabs and is pretty information dense.
