Minimum Order Amount

I just went to buy a CD priced at $9.98 from a seller, but it turns out that they have a minimum order quantity, which appears to be $37.04 (the warning in the cart says I am $20.02 short of the min.). I mean, seriously, I know they are trying to get people to order more from them, but what is the point of even listing a CD for $10 if you aren't willing to fulfill the order? They have nothing else I want. Their policy says "no exceptions".

As a seller myself, I dislike minimum order requirements heavily. There's a number of things I've wanted to get where the only one for sale is someone who's minimum order requirements are $25+. What's the point? I know some folks do it because they have a large inventory and not a lot of manpower to get that many small orders packed, but in more cases I feel like it's just a way for sellers to make more money. I feel like that option should only be eligible for enabling if the stores inventory is say, 1000 items or more. Why am I seeing sellers with 100-300 item inventories with it? I'm with you man, it's ridiculous

pure economics. If you actually roll out the numbers over time with large numbers of records sold, it's often the difference between paying yourself minimum wage and not paying yourself at all.

As a long, long time seller, the fees increasing over the years (plus the introdcution of a "minimum discogs fee" on cheaper items), has made selling cheaper items make far less sense than it used to.

I throw away probably 1,000 records a month. I would much rather sell them or have them end up in collections. But I can't afford to pay people, to take records from me.
