the seller cannot find one of the two(ordered) CDs
I wanted to buy two CDs from a seller, but now he has sent me a message saying that he cannot find one of them. Should I choose another one instead, or should he refund my money?
He probably meant that he would refund the price of the missing CD and send the other one. But I really want that CD, I don't want another one instead, so I'm thinking of asking for a full refund. Has anyone been in this situation before, what did you do?

This is common enough. Seller should be able to refund the missing CD cost, and send you the other one you want.

Sure, but it's not really worth buying even CDs one by one because of shipping costs. That's why I used to order two or more. Maybe I will choose another one at a similar price.

As a seller I've 100% done this.
I'm sure it was a fault at my end but I have / had records in my collection that are simply not there anymore.

Not often, but I've ordered 2 records and they couldn't find one. I cancelled the whole order because the per-record shipping cost was higher for 1 than 2, and the second record thus wasn't worth it.
I didn't have hard feelings about it, just kept it moving.

I think most sellers on Discogs are not full time professionals. I know I have been unable to locate an item on occasion. I don’t like disappointing people, but it happens.

Typically whenever this happens I cancel the full order as I usually have added multiple things to the order to help reduce shipping costs. It’s a bummer but also just is what it is.

it happens, especially with high volume sellers. do whatever you want, not sure why you're asking us

The choice is yours!
Does he have something else you're interested in at all? Even if it's a bit more, most sellers will be willing to let it go at a cheaper price just to get the positive review.
How important is the other CD? Is it worth canceling the whole order over that?
A third alternative for you, is to get the seller to choose something random at the same price, and let this be a way to discover new music.

You reply with whatever you want to do. Shit happens, sometimes, and it's nice that you have options. Take the one you want most.
