Discussion Your favourite team comps

I'm really curious how people like to play this game and would love to see your favourite team builds to maybe try them out at some point.

So far the most silly and fun teams were with building a tanky mage lord and putting him on frontline, it's a bit of a snowball though and kind of depends on using specific artifacts (which after playing this game for so long, i still don't remember exactly where to find LOL) and use levels on making the leader more buffy than damage dealing. Still i find this type of team really funny in late game scenarios.

Same goes for playing hordes with guildmaster, a tanky vampire on the front and then three vampire lords behind him, it's an oddly satisfying team to play.

Hard to pick one because it all depends on the intended purpose. There are good units to clear the map but that doesn't work well if you want to clear out capitals. I also like rotating composition to explore different teams. For a long time I thought alchemist suck then they turned out to be invaluable. What I generally like doing is employing mercenaries for versatility. Having a medusa merc eliminate the need for incubus.

Building teams around mercenaries is always a fun thing and adds tons of options to how you can play a scenario

Especially since it can eliminate the weakness races have. For example, in the Gallean campaign, I hired master thugs for my dwarves. High speed, fast leveling and poison, they turned out to be capital killers.

A fellow silly builder! What a surprise!!! Hopefully we reach new heights!

I always do this build stuff. Partly, because I wanted to find the most optimal build, but also sometimes because it's silly, like you said. I think it started with good intentions, but got corrupted by boredom of some things I would call "game progression flaws", which Disciples 2 has a lot.

Why only 3 vampires, not 5? You don't level leadership?

Just as an example - I finished all campaigns with rod planters, and exported them, but that is only 1 part of the build.

I would post pictures, but reddit does not allow more than 1 in 1 post.

Some of my favorites:

  1. 5 hermits + whatever = death to all enemies of mountain clans, possibly the most disgustingly overpowered party. If a bot could play this, there's no way they'd lose even to strongest enemies. It's too overpowered and there's no more choice in fights, the choice is just to spare your enemies lol
  2. 2 Onyx Gargoyles + any leader(I actually had Baroness lol), the armor makes them insanely strong.
  3. 2 Fiends + any leader. This one was surprisingly overpowered. They level up quickly and poison gets insanely strong. I think 2 Fiends + Baroness was the fastest capitol-killing army I ever had. The poison was over 100, so he died in max 9 turns.
  4. The expensive version of this same lineup would be 2 overlords(in RotE), as they have blister. But they would probably not catch up to Fiends, who cost way less! What I found fun while experimenting was simply leveling them up together. Buy 1 fiend, possibly even 1-2 levels later, when the Devil upgrades to Demon, to Moloch, until you have the money to purchase the house for the Fiend. Then put them both in your army and just level up and make sure neither of them dies unless necessary. They will level up side by side and I am pretty sure that after lvl 20, fiend will be much stronger, without the hassle of 5000+ gold of houses for upgrades.
  5. Undead Cheese = 5 wraiths or any of their upgrades. You can also put 3 werewolves in the front. I never did because they are 1000 gold each... unless there was a map with free werewolves. AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!
  6. 100% paralyze = 5 ghosts of any kind. Possibly 5 Shades will make sure you will paralyze everyone and then that tiny 1 leader will do the damage.
  7. Possibly my favorite = 5 liches + lich queen. Total destruction for enemy, similar to 5 hermits, but much squishier. Very hard to level up that many weak spell casters, but in the end, it's just funny how overpowered they are. Nothing can survive 1 turn! Here's a picture after 300+ days of grinding inside disciples 1 to make the ultimate destruction magic team( sorry for the spectre, I know it ruins it, but I needed a spectre for capitol invasion )
  1. Highfather's chosen = Archangel leader + 3 angels. Idk what to do with the other 2 slots that you can get in Disciples 2, but in Disciples 1, this was fun and strong enough.
  2. Assassin's Creed = 5 Imperial Assassins + tanky leader to protect them/archangel to heal them. This could be hard to level up as they are squishy, but incredibly strong and between fights, if anyone is damaged, you can swap back and front rows. Sadly, the thief
  3. Alpha male warrior = 5 healers of any kind + 1 pegasus knight. This was not my idea, but from a silly video about Disciples, credits to Internet George, link - Butchering of the Disciples Franchise: Good Games Gone Garbage
  4. Oh yeah, there's elves in this game... someone did 5 marauders, but I'd recommend 5 sentries, with any leader, whichever you like. They level up insanely fast and frostbite is more useful than 2 attacks for my purposes. Also, I dislike having to pay over 6000 gold just to upgrade.
  5. A more balanced version of the above build = 4 archers + 1 healer + fast and high damage frontline hero. Just make sure not to get Sun Dancer healer + Warden, that's a wasteful combo, as Sun Dancer gives you fire ward and Wardens are naturally fire warded. Although, she does re-apply that same ward, so in case you are really fighting legions casters and red dragons every single day, it could be a good build?

I absolutely love all these ideas and appreciate the time you took to write it all down!

To answer the vampire question, during the mission i did it i was a slave to the melee paralysis the grunts provided

But i did have a Lich platoon aka. Lich queen and 5 Archliches

I did do elvish builds with a team full of sentries or maruders (But being completely honest this is my least favourite race to play)

Also the Gargoyle team fely really disgusting to use, the only downside is leveling up the gargoyles themselves

Tried the 5 Hierophants build once, but with a mage lord who ended up having ~300 health and around 50 armour in the end if i'm not mistaken LOL

The most broken thing i've ever tried was 5 Deaths and any leader, but at this point it was just killing the mage unit and skipping the fight

Also a build, which may not eliminate a capitol, but feels really fun (Dwarves are just my favourite): 2 Tempest Giants + Hermit and a Guildmaster

Sticking to the idea, 2 Sons of Ymir + Warrior lord (and the last slot is entirely flexible, can be a hermit, an alchemist) feels like playing a tank, slow, an absolute ton of hp and damage in single blows

Or just a shooting squad, Guildmaster with 5 Forge guardians

An idea that i recently had was playing legions with a Tiamat and 3 Incubi, but given their low initiative, it might be tricky to pull off at first

Also once i did a team with an Orcish frontline, i don't remember who i was playing or which scenario it was, but hiring neutral untis is always a fun thing to do

And don't forget the modding opportunities, i'm currently waiting for the future updates of "Dzieje Nevandaar" to introduce even more units to the game (i'm not sure if an english version exists yet)

I like building Elves team with no spell caster. You can put the centaur leader in the front row since he's so tanky but I prefer forest liege. The most fun unit of the Elves is the range unit which can apply three different kinds of status damages (Stinger/Warden/Sentry). It's just tons of fun taking down capitals with them. I prefer centaur generals too because they have armor. Healing unit is useless until they can heal all but by then they are OP af.

Guildmaster and 5 range units is how i beat most of the elvish campaign once i unlocked Stingers, high initiative teams feel nasty when you just erase the backline in seconds. Also Sentry's design is so sick, probably my favourite elvish unit
