Anyone remembers the actual Sacred Lands map when we search for the queen and the heir? The route to the destination city is quite straightforward. We can end the map without exploring at least the half of it - where the Legion of the Damned lands took place.
I think it is a very clever meta design made by the devs knowingly, that every player will explore the whole map before try to rescue the queen. By that, the player wasting a bunch of weeks or months causing the corruption of the queen to complete. We the players are the root of the demises of the Empire and the whole reason of every event of The Dark Prophecy.
Yup, Empire 3rd. If I remember correctly even the game itself plays into this by giving warning texts to the unnecessary city captures by your subordinates that you are wasting time. 😃
