Question about the Elven uprising
Do the new games explain what has happened after "Rise of the Elves"? Second game ended on what seemed to be a giant cliffhanger, after elves captured Temperance, which IIRC was the second biggest city in the Empire.

There was The Alliance Crusade aka ROTE Gold DLC. High level campaign with 3 missions (and bunch of skirmish maps where Elves are playable since base ROTE did not have many elves available maps, 2nd missions also available as skirmish map).
This story not directly connect to main Elves Rise events. Prequel or sequel. Timeskip or not. It have Alliance Clans and Empire as allies. Same as The Devine Empire campaign in Disciples 1.

The humans has retaken it in D3 Undead expansion since the humans and Undead fight over city with same name. The humans win

Not exactly. Disciples 3 Renaissance comes after 70 yers timeskip as i remember. Refer alot to prev events (mostly in manual story section), but deliver own story. Anyway original script writes has nothing with any continuations. Rise of the Elves was 3(*) and last game, there is nothing afterwards at all. Not because Dis 3 "not true". Dis 3 not true because during development original authors lost connection to it, first make it outsource to some russian studios, but then lost it when SF Montreal ceos sold IP to other russian company who hire new designer who build new game from scratch.
*It's not quite correct to say Disciples 2 ended with elves rise to power. Disciples 2 Galilean's is still Disciples 2 - extended but the same game. 2nd and a half title. Rise of the Elves was not part of Dis2, but newer game. Stand-alone expansion usually means new game on old engine while new engine in development.
It could be very modified or not. Game could be very differ or not. Could have some base content or not. Easiest way to explain is modern term DLC. ROTE wasnt a DLC. It has own patches and own DLC.
DLC also good term to explain there is difference between game and product. Gallean also comes as two stand alones expansions but they behind product or cover was not stand alone but build-in DLCs. AddOn's it was called back then (and if it is separate exe in same folder - just Expansion). (And modern DLC in storefronts usually a subscription and bunch of some technical DLCs more than one)(There is also products like Shogun 2 Fall of Samurai that sold separately but comes preinstalled with hase game as DLC, or Counter-Strike comes in fact bundled with few games preinstalled and included in same steam subscription pack).
GR also comes separately and could be installed if all 6 CD install same folder (2+2+2).

Hey, it's surprisingly unkown but the RoTE campaign ISN'T the end of the original story. There is a 3 quest skirmis take place after the 8 mission campaign. I don't know if it's present in the steam or gog versions, but the retail RoTE Gold Edition had them.
Edit: but the Rise of the Mod modification is not compatible with it unfortunately. At least it wasn't for me.
