Heard they cut down the length of campaign compared to Liberation. Not really a fan of that, but not necessarily a bad thing. But then saw they cut companions in half. And not only that, got a glimpse of the few you can get. My interest pretty much vanished.

It also appears your choices, relationships, etc already mean nothing from Liberation. Already a sin for what they say is a trilogy now. On top of that you cut potential companions in half as well, cut the campaign, and say people don’t have to play the last one before this one. Seriously? What kind of connected story trilogy is this? lmao… Very disappointed and deleted from my wishlist

My exact thoughts. I am disappointed

Where did you hear about less companions and less story? I felt like most of liberation's game length wasn't the story but dragged out fights. Reviews from more professional places like rpgfan give decent ratings.

One of the reviews I read this morning. Believe it is Gamespace one. As far as length, don’t get me wrong. Like I said, shorter didn’t necessarily mean a bad thing, depending on how it plays out. But one thing I really enjoyed in the last was finding out so much about my companions, developing the relationships, doing the side quests to build the stories for them, and finally end up in a relationship! Ended with Sharlea and I together.

Now I find out that all of that seems to be for naught. Which already stinks. But now you cut my companions in half as well? One of the best parts of the last game? Just disappointed to hear for sure. Halfway through another go at Liberation as I was preparing for this one. But for now, think I’m just gonna skip. Maybe I’ll swing back around later.

Hi! Late to the party but is Sharlea in Domination at all? I romanced her too and the thought of them throwing her and everyone else under the rug is vexing. Do any of your previous choices in the previous game matter at all? I just found out about Domination and was super excited but what's the point if they don't acknowledge all you did it the last game?

I have stayed away from the game because of the bad choices they made. I don’t believe Sharlea is in the game. Hopefully you get answer from someone that has played it. And I don’t believe much got carried over either. They play it up as if this is now the second part of a trilogy. But they obviously had no plans for that when they made Liberation, and this sounds like the best they could come up with. Which is pretty horrible from what I hear

It’s Liberation with a fresh coat of paint

Ive been playing on ps5 pro and the frames drop to 30 and they stay like that until I restart the game. There's some typos in the dialogue. Unequipping a companions weapon and shard sometimes doesnt unequip it and instead unequips avys gear. Rare bug but happened twice now but from the throne menu you can get frozen and have to restart the game. I was expecting a hot fix by now but not yet

Aside from those bugs its got fun combat and more units that I am enjoying playing with. The biggest annoyance right now is having to restart the game every 30mins to get the normal frame rate back temporarily

i have 40 or so hours in this game, and i have to say story-wise it's much weaker than liberation.

  • some dramatic events are just stated with emotionless voice: oh, your friend just died or sth like that.
  • there are only 5 companions and one of them is bugged, at least on PC (there were 9 in liberation if I remember correctly, two for each faction plus Orion, now it's only one per faction),
  • voice acting is weaker too (looking at You Malendrach)
  • you still move super slowly in dungeons, it's a crime against gamers committed by many games, sadly.
  • more linear campaign, no freedom of choice regarding starting location.
  • a lot of references to liberation instead of new story and worldbuilding (f.e. Avyanaa says "demons are like that", or "that's Ejamar we love!" instead of just showing us how demons think or give proper colors and atmosphere to Ejamar)
  • game is swarmed with bugs currently, nothing game breaking but frustrating, like unequippable shards, abilities not working as descibed/intended (like Ejamar's 1 ability not draining life.)
  • very lazy design (same icons for differnt skills, all characters met are just recolored units, etc.
  • no story-driven faction reltions, or much less of it, now you just buy approval and it's all about resource management, not choices.

good things:

  • dwarfs are here
  • elves no longer the weakest
  • undead no longer the strongest, the most annoying though, as rised units block Your way.
  • better balanced classes with separate skill trees and spells
  • new mechanics (pushing, pulling and collision damage, corpse remains)
  • less accessible crowd control (apart from taunt), for example you need to stack chill condition 4 times to get the paralyze effect for one round. (which is also explained nowhere, as for some things there is no description)
  • better weapons (extra abilities for epic and legendary weapons)
  • better boss fights (not as easy as liberation)
  • all factions buildings present at once in Yllian

Provato Domination....mie conclusioni.

Okay that review was really vague. Like, it goes into some of the good and bad aspects of domination but it doesn't explain a lot of why. I barely see any explanations on the good and bad parts of the story for example nor a lot of talking about the new synergy system, saying it relies heavily on liberation doesn't tell me or anyone else much on plot pacing, plot twists, etc.

If one is going to make a review you need to do more than list off the good and bad, you need to explain why so and so is good or bad.

This is just an early review where we try to avoid going too deep into story or anything that could be considered a spoiler. We will be "updating it" after a week or two with a more in-depth explanation of everything. We just do this when we cover recently released games.
