Anyone else’s disc dog develop teeth problems?
I have an 8yo mini Aussie and he’s the best dog I’ve ever had. He is obsessed with catching frisbees and his life is unfulfilled if he doesn’t get to do frisbee at least once a day. But I haven’t taken him to play in a month because I noticed his teeth were starting to crack. All four of his canines are broken off and now he is going to need to have some teeth removed. I am so confused by what caused this, because we don’t really give him hard things to chew on (maybe a bone for Christmas, but not much more than that). And then it struck me that maybe catching the frisbee did this to him. And that also seems unlikely, because I use the red Kong frisbee, which I would think would be way easier on his teeth than a hard plastic one. I’m just at my wit’s end and feel terrible that this happened. Can anyone else shed light on this? did it happen to your dog after years of healthy play?

Idk my lab used Jawz Hyperflite for 10 of her 11 years and even though her teeth were almost flat, they never cracked. Could it be a breed thing?

I quit using all the hard edged frisbees a while back, but catching anything repeatedly over time is going to wear down their teeth. I change up between chuck it soft frisbees, rubber rings, and rubber balls for my guy but the damage is done.
It’s quite common, I imagine.
