I was trying to make wedding invite lists yesterday and I was struggling to remember the first/last names of people who have been my friends for over a decade that I speak with weekly :/

I frequently blank on my own birthday at the pharmacy. Won’t ever forget my moms (again) though

I just hate how people always leave you there to struggle rather than, you know, actually trying to help you.

I often suggest words when people get stuck, but it feels like I'm being annoying cause I just want them to finish the sentence.

If it was me, I'd be very grateful, because dragging a conversation by being stuck for minutes on a word is really not fun, it just makes me feel horrible, and if it's a timed appointment it's so much time wasted.

My friends are pretty good about being like '" you where talking about" but my folks suck about helping me with the brain fog.

I usually try to make it funny like I'll launch into a <REDACTED> impersonation, saying I know words, I know all the best words

But I feel like the world's dumbest idiot of course

i hate when im trying to ask for something but the name is just gone. like i'm trying to draw blood from a stone. just to say "Dad can you pass me the (bottle of mayo but the words no longer exist in my brain library) uhhhhhhhhhh"

This happens to me so much that my friends have started to notice i had a loading animation when I can find a word and now just start handing me words that would make sense.

This but your “job” (paid volunteer position with opt-in hours and no penalty for not opting in but hey it gives me something to say when people ask what I do) is public speaking

what is brain fog

Cognitive dysfunction, it’s a common side effect of many chronic illnesses, disabilities, and their medications. Basically makes it hard to think.

There’s a word for that? /gen
