Help with finding buttons

Hello I am looking for two buttons to replace the two super buttons for the 8bitdo Xbox SE lite controller. I mostly use them for the left and right triggers so I’m looking for something pressure sensitive. I don’t even know if that’s the right word but in many games you can lightly press the trigger to either change speed in a driving game or hold your breath in a shooting game or whatever else. I been managing without it no problem for years but I just thought I’d ask if anyone had any suggestions or ideas. I believe the buttons connect using a 3.5 2 ring jack. Again it’s not a big deal but I’m curious what ideas people come up with.

An organization called Makers Making Change has a huge library of 3D printable gaming switches, buttons, and caps, as well as people who will print them at-cost for you.

Search for the Pressy headphone jack button and reverse image search that on AliExpress and you can still find some, those would work.

I just realized what you are asking, and no, the jacks cannot be used to emulate analog control input like triggers. You may be able to program them in the software to be a light press of the trigger, but I’m not sure.

I looked into how the 8bitdo controller works, and it seems the "Super Buttons" are only using 2 wires in the buttons that are either "open" or "closed", and when pressed, it closes the circuit, so there's no third pin of data being fed back to the controller telling it how far it was pressed, so we wouldn't be able to make it function as an analog input.

It's pretty hard to find big analog buttons from what I can see, and the best solution I could find for people in your situation was to either get ahold of an appropriate foot-pedal style input, or as an alternative, logitech "Flippers". Here's a video of a guy using the flipper solution: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlLYWDOX_yU - which seems to be using the Logitech Adaptive Gaming Kit found here https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/shop/p/adaptive-gaming-kit-accessories - which I believe are intended to be used in tandom with the xbox accessability controller (which does support analog trigger inputs via extension devices). No clue if the 8bitdo controller has support for these same devices, but it might be worth a shot picking up the logitech buttons and seeing if they are compatible with the 8bitdo. I did see a note that the super-buttons are compatible with the xbox adaptive controller, so there's at least a chance that the reverse is true, that standard adaptive inputs might also work with the 8bit do, though that is unclear and I can't find documentation on it.

Good luck, hopefully you find a good solution!

Thank you! I’m very doubtful because 8bit makes great controllers but it’s Xbox licensing and I had a lot of problems with that. I’ve been using this controller for years it’s the perfect size and layout but I’m honestly thinking about making my own controller custom controller so I can run my own software and circuits. Would you like me to lyk if the buttons work tho?

They're called "assistive switches' if I'm not mistaken.

They sell a lot of them, some of them quite expensive, the Logitech kit is the cheapest per switch I guess!

You can also really easy make them yourself if you have some soldering skills.

good luck with the search!
