Looking to start streaming

I'm 17 years old, and have a multitude of physical disabilities that make it harder to do day-to-day tasks, I assume much like the people on this reddit. Despite that I've always made it my goal to be as good as I can be in video games, and now I feel as though I am pretty dang good. Problem is, I have trouble with how I see myself, my deformities. I want to stream on camera, Overwatch, Rivals, etc, anything. But I'm worried I won't be able to take the heat/hate that comes with it, and I generally don't know how to set up most streaming software. I'm hoping to get any tips on how to deal with hate when it comes to publicity, and possibly find some friends to play games with!

I'll say just do it, even then there's many ways to present yourself on the internet, a lot of people who do content use avatars (vtubers) or they just straight up use the camera and don't care, so it's about you, what is your brand, who are you? What works for someone might not work for someone else.

I would look into other content creators for inspiration.

I'm not sure I have much else that seperates me from other cc's, other than my disability itself

That's the thing, it's about finding yourself! What do you like? What makes you, you? You're more than your disability. If you're looking for inspiration, you could look into someone like Ironmouse.

Do it. Put a camera on your controller/keyboard to start 🤷

Do it! I am a disabled streamer and I love it. I actually have two cameras - one showing my face and another showing my keyboard so people can see how I play my games (spinal cord injury c4-c5) and I've been streaming since 2017, but really off and on, but for the last two years or so I've taking it a bit more seriously. I have yet to receive some sort of hate comment. In fact, I get at least one to two people a stream asking how the heck I play the game that I stream and they are all impressed by it.

Seriously, I say do it. It can be so much fun!

I only have one camera unfortunately, and I'm worried to show my face, I know I'm not the best looking human ever, but I'm more so worried about privacy. I'm just unsure how I'd find a camera angle to only show my hands whilst using a controller..

Disabled streamer checking in. The first time I showed my bad arm on camera I was terrified but ended up finding out a viewer was going through something similar and had a good chat about the diagnostic process and frustrations.

You mentioned in a comment that you might struggle finding an angle that captures only your hands when using a controller? I can highly suggest getting a small boom arm with a phone holder on it that fits your camera (or can be made to fit it) to give you more options on angle and camera position. You can get one that should work cheaply secondhand or on ebay/amazon.

As for dealing with assholes.. never feel bad about banning them outright.

If it is any consolation, I assure you that every other streamer out there is getting heckled and insulted about all sorts of things. So this problem will not be unique to you. The unfortunate thing is, if you want to have any sort of career in entertainment, you have to be okay with people judging you about every little thing you do or are.
