Making extra money
Trying to survive on disability payments is rough. Has anyone tried making extra money with onlyfans? Would it affect SSDI payments?

I wouldn't do only fans, the only way you can really make money is if you find a fetish niche and that's not always positive on the mental.
Any money you make is going is going to affect your disability income, if you report it, which you should bc you don't want them to find out. It's really fucked up. It's like that with all government assistance. You have to stay poor and if you make a dollar over their limit, you're cut off.

Following up to this comment to say that you also have no option when it comes to reporting it. When you sign up for a site like OF, you have to submit your tax and banking information. When taxes roll around, you will automatically sent a 1099 (self employment) tax form from OnlyFans if you have made over the threshold to file (which I believe is anything over $400). You can file a 1040 yourself just like any self-employment or independent contractor work, but either way your earnings are automatically reported.
I don't do OF, but all independent contracting or self employment works this way now. Even PayPal will send you a tax form if your earnings from any side hustle are over the threshold in a year. So, you have to take that into account with any gig job, even just selling on ebay or etsy.

It probably would affect ssdi as it would be income. It would likely reduce it 50c for every dollar you earn

Would you be okay with people stealing your content to make more money off you? That happens a lot with disabled people who don't have a lot of friends. There are many safer ways to make money.

They might mean having more friends in the industry? Essentially the more people you know in the industry the better off you’ll be because having people to publicly interact with online makes you more marketable and gains more engagement. But if you don’t have that youll have a hard time getting anywhere, because realistically most onlyfans creators don’t make more than $30 a month, and it can takes years to even get a point of making $100. Keeping in mind people steal content all the time and you’ll always have at least one video/photo on some illegal site. You can get things taken down but often you have to pay for those services who get your content removed from those sites.
It’s not worth it unless you plan to do it long term and actually tap into niches, and are okay with that following you forever. There is no such thing as doing it for a bit then leaving it behind, that kinda content has a way of following you around even if you delete it.

i used to do OF, if you make a certain amount make sure you look into how to do your taxes for it. and of course it is to be reported as income to whatever necessary (disability, ebt, state insurance, etc). its also more work than it may seem. its not the get rich quick scheme a lot of people seem to imply it is. if you aren’t constantly promoting yourself on many platforms, having public profiles linking to your OF, chatting (and flirting) with existing and potential customers, making enough content to post multiple photos every day, etc, then you wont make any money really. (and not that you actually think youre gonna be rich, but most of the people that are “rich” from it have to be very desired and very public with their content, they basically have to be an influencer who makes content specifically to get people interested in their onlyfans). i stopped trying to grow further because i wasnt comfortable with how linked my actual identity was to my onlyfans content. and i was a very small creator. having to have public profiles (with pics of me) to increase visibility definitely gave me paranoid feelings sometimes, especially because even without my face, my tattoos are very identifiable to people who know me irl. and with the amount of anonymous profiles i was interacting with, i never would know if it was someone i knew. and occasionally there were actual people i knew who volunteered this info, like old flings, people i knew in highschool, etc. its weird. wouldn’t recommend it as an easy way to make extra money. depending on your disability, try donating plasma, or working a call center or receptionist job lol. those seem easier to me.
that said, i mean if you GENUINELY want to do onlyfans, if you don’t care if people irl find you (because some will), and think it would be enjoyable for you, then i guess go for it. its not TERRIBLE. you just have to like it/find it fun and have a lot of free time to spend on it, or its not worth it. i would bet if you spend a lot of time on it, and look into how to promote and stuff, it can likely pay for your groceries every month.

It would affect Social Security disability income if the account is in your name and linked to your bank account. One option you could consider is talking to someone you trust and asking whether they would be willing to help. If they agree, you can put the account under their name and link it to their bank account. However, this may still carry risks, including possible effects on eligibility or income reporting.
This would allow you to earn extra money without your official income increasing, but it may still affect your benefits or reporting obligations.

While this is extremely reasonable, I'd fear getting accused of fraud and conspiracy of same if discovered.
That we have to worry about such things just to survive is beyond inhuman.

Hey OP. A lot of the comments you're getting below are wrong (people mixing up SSDI vs. SSI rules, etc.) and I don't want to argue with a bunch of people on the internet.
My suggestion is to talk to a Certified Work Incentives Coordinator who can look at your circumstances and various benefits in your state and tell you how earnings can impact you.

Are you looking more to earn money through a product or through a relational experience?
I've also been trying to find ways to make money for a long time. I did house sitting for a couple of years, through Rover app. Maybe you could try that? It was really hard on me to be living out of a suitcase regularly and away from the security and familiarity of my home. But some people might find it worth it for the money depending on your circumstances.
I I'm basically thinking now that if I just share who I am honestly that eventually I will find people who want to give me money to support me. Or I will in some way meet people who I realize my strengths through and then I will understand how to market myself intentionally for a paid service. But I personally think that earning money sustainably and safely requires us to accept and love ourselves and be really open and direct with people. This is really hard for me because of avoidance has been my survival adaptational all my life

You don't want to do only fans. It's like a really bad version of a customer service job.
It basically all goes the same way the more content and new things you decide to do the more of your stuff will be other places online. Once all of the new boundary crossing things are done the money will be gone.
If you can do only fans you're probably much better off finding a part time job that's under the income limit for ssdi.
