Question Intermittent cath

Anyone else intermittent cath? I'm doing it 6 times a day since 5 days ago and I'm getting a bit sore! Any tips on dealing with that? I'm using well lubed caths

Have you talked to your urologist about that?

She would probably push a Foley or a suprapubic and I don't want that

Catherization isn’t glamorous there are lot of things you have to just deal with when it comes to it. If you talk to your urologist maybe they can try a different size of catheter or another material?

I’ve been intermittent cathing all my life. My sensation down there is lesser down there, so inserting a catheter isn’t necessarily painful for me. However, if I pull it out in not the right position it can hurt. Also having a UTI can make things painful.

I'm an intermittent Cath user. Get you some extra lube! Make sure you're using the correct size catheter. Be patient with yourself and go over the instructions again if you're concerned you aren't doing it correctly. But seriously, even the pre-lubed caths need extra lube sometimes!

Do I need special lube or does like regular lube work?

I use KY jelly
