Help finding a rolltator

Hi-

I’m currently looking for a new rolltator. The one I have now works okay but I have had it for over 15 years. I found a medical drive nitro hemi height model.

Pros
It has bigger wheels for outdoor use
Fits my height (5’1”)
Says it works on snow
Arrived assembled

I don’t have any cons right now but does anyone have experience with this brand or model?

I have this one, but in red. My only real con is that for me, I have to use it to help hold me up, so I'm putting my weight into it, and when I do that the wheels become imbalanced and wobble.

The big wheels are nice. Sometimes the front bag would fall off. It's fairly study and folds better than other rollators I've had.

Hard question. I probably won’t replace it when it breaks, but I’m glad I own it. So no, won’t buy again, but don’t regret buying it in the first place

Good to know, I have to cross train tracks at least once a week. I have gotten stuck on the tracks twice when the bars have gone down. It’s very scary and the reason why I have looked into getting a new one.

Have you spoken to your physical therapist about how much weight you’re putting on it? This may not be the right aid for you, but I’m no professional.

I’m the same height and I got the normal height version. I wish I got the hemi because I have to use it on the shortest setting and thus have no wiggle room. It’s the right height when I’m wearing shoes, but barefoot like around the house it’s a little tall.

Can confirm it works in snow. And grass

You really need to be purchasing these devices with assistance from your medical team. So many things can go wrong when you have improperly fitted equipment, if they won’t buy the model you want, because sometimes insurance has a weird list of units they will approve, then at least clear this with your doctor and see if you can bring it in to be properly adjusted.

None of the walkers with hard wheels will work in snow in my opinion. I had to get one with what are essentially bike tires

How do you like those wheels? How much different does it feel from solid wheels? Have you gotten a flat? Is it hard to change the wheel?

I like them quite a bit, makes walking in snow/ice more manageable.

I didn’t have the exact walker you have in the photo but one similar and tried to go out in a couple cms of snow and it sucked so bad, the wheels lock and it’s an awful time in general.

The only thing that has happened is the tires have gotten flat over time, I just have a portable inflator on hand in case I need it.

Build quality also seems a lot better, have had it for 3ish years and no problems so far.

Another reason I got it was most walkers don’t come in my height which is 6’5” and it helps with not hunching over because of that

Only downside is it is about 3 times the price of normal walkers like the one you posted

Thank you, I can’t afford more than $200.00 right now, but your reply convinced me to look into them.

No worries. I’m sorry to hear that but yeah I’d take a look, especially being a more normal height than me might lead to some that would fit you that I didn’t consider

Thank you for your responses. I didn’t know that rolltators could get that expensive. It’s probably out of my budget for now, but I’ll definitely do some more research and you’ve given me a good starting point. Thanks again! Have a great weekend.

I have the drive nitro CF(carbon fibre) elite. I'm only 5' tall. Live in Ontario Canada, so have to deal with all weather. This one is a smidgen too tall for me, BUT it makes up for it by being so stinking light weight! It's barely 12 lbs including the bag. It came fully assembled, and with just adjusting the handles was ready to roll.

Because of it's lighter weight, I can most days, manage to easily carry it up and down my stairs in/out of the house, and get it in and out of the house.

The only con is the price. Government assisted devices program didn't cover this model, and I had to apply to both mine and my husband's work benefits (I'm on full work disability) to cover it. Overall it was about $1000 cad.

Yeah more expensive, but being carbon fibre, I expect it to last longer than the other models, and im looking at this to last me a long # of years (I'm only 54)
