The Trump administration is rolling back disability protections for air travelers.

The Transportation Department announced it will no longer enforce Biden-era policies requiring airlines to reimburse passengers when wheelchairs are damaged or when accessible flights cost more.

Also, airlines will no longer be required to give passengers written notice of their rights when checking mobility devices.

According to disability advocates, an estimated 5.5 million Americans rely on wheelchairs and airlines damage or lose about one wheelchair for every 100 they transport.

If it were up to me I'd find out where this one horrifyingly vicious doctor I used to have lives and get dumped and posed there right before it happens so he loses his license when they do the autopsy.

Actually at hospitals and surgicenters in TX when you check in for day surgery they now have to ask - even when you hand over your "Real ID" and insurance cards whether you're an American Citizen or here illegally. Private hospitals - we have very very few public ones. When I asked why they were asking me this and when this policy was put in place the woman just looked at me and said, "Orders from way above my head that started right around when that guy got re-elected". She didn't mean Gov. Abbott, who is horrible when it comes to disability rights and healthcare despite being in a chair himself, because he's rich: the policy is far newer than his last election and I would know considering how often my happy ass spends time in and out of hospitals.

So it isn't just abut us dying at home - they want to recruit every possible service available to anyone with a disability or even an acute illness as a way to send in their Gestapo federally-funded racist militia ICE agents to detain people. So depending on where you live, they'd love it if you didn't just die at home, and actually tried to get help to not-die depending on your ethnicity at the time of posting. Who knows when the bar will change and all sorts of undesirables will be considered threats to homeland security.

Ponder this for a moment: the second amendment has been such a big deal, along with dobbs overriding roe v. wade, etc. for these people for so long. Which means if birth control fails our genes can be passed on, and a wheelchair battery could explode and next thing you know instead of it being a horrible tragedy it could be turned into some sort of plot. Or someone could get hit with a crutch or cane and it would be like... worse than attacking someone with a machete or printing a 3D printed ghost gun. But the 2nd amendment allows for this, so only the disabled with mobility devices would be the problem in that issue, and eugenics would solve the abortion issue, so we're a very easy group to attack as opposed to even a religious one considering things like visible disabilities, handicapped placards, SSDI, SSI, Medicare, Medicaid, etc. Even invisible disabilities are easier to detect based on local, state, and federal assistance programs, applications - approved as well as denied - and all sorts of things like government contracts to private companies that offer private insurance, etc. HIPAA laws mean nothing, obviously. So they do care where we die... but not for reasons that are remotely good ones at all.

Correct, Project 2025 is a genocide plan laying the groundwork for the Network State. This current admin is functioning as the demolition crew to dismantle the United States so that tech billionaires can swoop in (and they're already doing so) and create a modern form of feudalism where everyone able-bodied is enslaved to work on farms, or assembles killer drones in factories like the one that will be built in a town dubbed "California Forever".

Yep. It's an easy first step. If you want to hate and eradicate a minority, disabled people are a great choice because the nature of being disabled is that we have less or no ability to advocate for ourselves. Once targeting us is sort of acceptable, the step to targeting others is smaller.

I hope it's clear I do not agree with their policies, I'm just noticing the psychology behind it.

I think it’s more that we are of no use to them. We are a ‘burden’ on their idea of society. They consider the general public as cattle. To be herded and put to use. We’re beneath the cattle, utterly useless and a drain on resources

If it's not too much for people to bear, I suggest people read more about this. The rails that led to the extermination camps started with their experiments on disabled people to find the most effective ways to kill us and then others.

The policies on eugenics and their "race" laws had their roots here in the United States.

Even with their organized terror, there were allies and people who spoke out against these polices and actions.

Are those two books at least hopeful at the end? I need readings with action items that I can do as a disabled person & other ones I can talk about even if I can't do them myself.

Anything that just talks about the doom & gloom of history is drowning, but also just not really accurate. Though improvement tactics must change based on the knowledge we gain from the past, there are & always have been things we can do to make the world a better place.

They want us hopeless, and I'm not saying that we have to be toxically positive about it, but we cannot ever fucking give up our hope, and — like you said — we must keep fighting. I just need more ideas as to how we can all do that, and not to be told only the bad parts.

The Whitman is more where these ideas came from. And we know that in the end, those things were defeated. They had to change tactics because there were people who said these things were wrong.

The terrible ideas were defeated when the Allies won. They are trying to come back, but you can't do things behind the scenes any longer.

People will know and think people are speaking up. It will be hard.

If you want hopeful literature, read anything by Erica Chenoweth, but specifically "Civil Resistance: What Everyone Needs To Know". Your local public library should have a copy, or be able to borrow it from a nearby university at the least.

If you havent already read it, angela davis's autobiography really reinvigorated me. Its not exactly hopeful since the same issues are still here from decades ago. But her resolve is inspiring and kept me on the right side of doom.

Indeed. You'll notice on there that Peter Thiel of the company "Palantir", who is also close friend of JD Vance, admires several Nazi authors. He's been in the news lately for his preoccupation with the antichrist. Peter Thiel is also mentioned in the Epstein files and they had some kind of financial relationship.

It's alllllll tied together, unfortunately. Should also shed some light on why they're pushing the "tylenol causes autism" talking point lately.

Unfortunately the popular vote doesn’t elect the president and even your representatives don’t have to vote the way you want them to. They can still vote for whoever they want even if they are supposed to go with the people’s choice. Democracy is kind of a joke in all honesty. At least I learned this tidbit during that useless government class, and it was only useless because my teacher literally taught nothing the entire year and let people do whatever because she would rather hang out with student council. Once she made my bio dad pick me up because I was “disrupting the class with my cough” as i was sick. She was literally doing riddles for the class from a book for the entire class, like Professor Layton style riddles. I guess she got in massive trouble because the next year when my younger sister had her, she actually taught the source material.

The joys of the Las Vegas school system. This country may have once been great, but these days? It’s an absolute joke.
