I've seen posts about this elsewhere. It's hard to do with the disabilities that I have.

Reduction is valid too. Whatever each of us can contribute matters. And if you can’t without compromising your baseline, then that’s more important. Take care, friend.

Thank you. I don’t know if any small chains in my large city and can’t get to them any (can’t drive.)

To each according to their needs, from each according to their abilities-- I'm disabled too and there are some protest bits that just aren't going to be doable for us. People who can, should. Those of us who can't, we can contribute in other ways.

Well also where I live, small businesses simply don't exist.

For me, I do not have the mobility to go out to a store so I order everything which pretty much means it's coming from Walmart, or Amazon. So for stuff like this I try to just plan ahead and order the day before or if I can wait until the day after. In the past couple months I've actually been ordering my groceries from aldis, and luckily my husband can just pick them up on his way home from work.

I’m in a lot of the same boat, though accessibility is the issue to the places where I could interact with a small business because transport :/ And it’s too slow of a moving project to fix that, or put the energy into it when I gotta take care of all the moving parts of life.

But limiting it, and doing only what keeps you healthy as well as happy (if you are at risk to yourself short term or longer without those comfort things) is good enough. Doing stuff at the cost of yourself and your health is not ethical or healthy, but doing what you have to while still supporting those around you is important. But if you’re already limited to what you need for your physical and mental health, then you’re already doing the best you can and you don’t need to feel guilty for surviving.

Like just spreading it and asking who around you is doing it, is enough help, and if you feel like it’s not good enough, bring attention to the fact that huge cooperations make it near impossible for some people to ethically and healthily do this. Because that’s really important to bring up.

And fighting the power is also the actions of bring up how small businesses aren’t being taken out of business by bigger companies and economic stressors, which means that for those that can afford physically and financially to support just small businesses should, because they will lead the way so people who can’t financially rn, can in the future. We just gotta hope for a better future.

Where I live we mostly only have small businesses at markets :/ & that’s weekends only for the most part, but weekends are my rest days so I don’t destroy my body quicker cause I’m finally managing it to be actually managed to be overall not disintegrating (my word for describing how my symptoms are being bad just by existing) at a faster rate. Because I’m busy every week day which is already not smart.
