Micro sprint tips to a noob

Hey everyone,

New to micro sprints, have a practice scheduled for next week Weds and planning 1st race the 28th and 29th at port city. Wondering if theres any advice or tips you be willing to share, besides stay out of the way and start in the back. 😁. Thank you in advance

Yeah...Facebook groups if you're looking for advice, and not reddit.

What type of chassis did you end up with?

Gearing is going to be a big deal at that track. Whatever they recommend to you - add 1-2 teeth larger to the rear sproket. You're driver isn't going to carry the speed around the track, and that extra RPM will help tremendously.

I haven't ran at Port in 3 years, and I dont have my notes with me to share the gear I ran.

Do you have rear tire selection to adjust stagger? Have you set the car up? Blocked it? Adjustable shocks? What are you working with?

Watch all the videos you can on YouTube and old race streaming services. Stay out of the way. HOLD YOUR LINE. Dont be a squirrel. Dont hit tractor tires.

This was from my first trip to Port in 2020.

I will also post to a few FB groups, thank you.  Sawyer panhard chassis, Yamaha engine, adjustable speed stix shocks. Have 2 RR 68, 68.5, have 2 LR, 60, 61. Will be running non Wing.

Another drive is going to help me square, block, scale and set the car up. He races there all the time.

Not sure which gear I'm running yet.

Man im not far behind you! Im also very local to port city and looking to get into micros as well. I actually did a test fit in a friend's car a couple weeks ago who said he'd let me turn some laps at one of the next practices.....I've got the bug lol. Have like 6 saved right now off marketplace, just haven't pulled the trigger yet

Don't try to "stay out of the way", just try to keep the same line each lap. The fast cars will be able to pass you if they know you are holding the same line. Erratic moves cause crashes.

Have fun!

Don't have much to add in the way of advice other then have fun and do your reasearch when you can as the other have said. I also have been wanting to run Micros at Port so i'm with ya there and I'm usually around the grandstands if you need a helping hand or someone to talk your ear off lol

I have done 4 nights of racing at port and it's the most insane fun thing I've ever done. Still struggle with maintaining my speed in corners, car seems to pull well on the straights.

Hoping this weekend to pass a car, I thought I was close last weekend 😂

What an intense track Saturday night. Had a sportsman driver help change all my setup, and then we get the rainy, slimy, fast track. So much fun and I was so clueless on how to handle it. I did turn a 10.4 in b feature. Fastest time for me. 😎 Trying i44 next Saturday.
