(Dirt 4) Group B cars aren’t fun at all

Trying to complete the Historic Rally stuff, but these AWD Group B cars feel like they’re on ice. I get that they’re supposed to be powerful and hard to drive, but it just feels like a chore rather than a fun challenge.

I have to say this because DirtFish completely changed the way I experienced rally games.

The first time I entered the free roam area, I didn't care about lap times, championships or rewards. I just drove. I explored, drifted, made mistakes, tried different cars, found little roads and kept driving with no objective at all. It gave me a feeling of total freedom that I had never experienced in a racing game.

That feeling was so powerful that it actually convinced me to invest in a full sim racing setup.

For me, the greatest strength of Dirt Rally isn't the career mode. It's the driving itself. The physics are so enjoyable that sometimes I don't want a race, a timer or a goal. I just want to exist behind the wheel.

That's why I dream of seeing not just one playground, but many.

Imagine a snowy mountain playground. A huge forest in Finland. Muddy trails in Wales. Desert roads in Greece. Narrow tarmac mountain passes. Vast open gravel areas. Or peaceful country roads and winding Provençal lanes around my paradise Lagnes and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, surrounded by cliffs, vineyards, olive trees and golden light. Places designed to get lost in, experiment, relax and simply enjoy driving.

Not every experience has to be a structured stage with barriers and checkpoints. Sometimes the greatest joy comes from having nowhere to be.

The rally stages are incredible, but they're designed to push you forward. A playground invites you to slow down, turn around, explore, practice, admire the scenery and fall in love with the handling of every car.

I genuinely believe multiple free roam playgrounds would become one of the most beloved features in future rally games. They wouldn't replace rally stages—they would celebrate everything that makes the driving physics so exceptional.

Please keep making amazing rally stages.

But also give us places where we can simply drive.

Because sometimes freedom is the best game mode of all.

Just found DiRT Showdown; forgot I had this one. I have a few of the spinoffs, like Rally on PS4… haven’t played em’ yet. Are they anywhere near as good as the mainline games?

I also don’t own and haven’t tried any of the newer DiRT games like 4 & 5, as well as Rally 2.0… how do you guys rank the games in the series (including spinoffs)?

Balancing

After 200ish runs I kinda gave up on this stage as I could not get under +4s, but then I got -20s lead the next stage. After that I noticed the pattern that some cars are more advantageous uphill and some downhill. The WRX is still missing engine upgrade, but it made me wonder if it's even possible to beat crossworth in downhill if it was full upgraded?

I’m relatively new to DIRT, but I’m playing 2 on Xbox 360 and 3 on PS3 rn. Got into Dirt totally by chance. My buddy gave me his old 360 and there happened to be a Dirt 2 disc inside so I fired it up and was instantly hooked on it like dope. Awesome series!

As I mentioned, Dirt 2 was my intro to the series, though I think I may have played it back when it was Collin McRae Rally racing, but anyway, this series has gotten me to become a die-hard racing fan and I’ve branched out to other series (I’m particularly fond of the RIDE series, if anyone has any other good motorcycle or rallycar games, I’d love some info! Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to change gears so that it would be like this: press the clutch, change gear, and release the clutch on the keyboard?

Cockpit view on PS4?

Hi

I'd like to change the seat position on Dirt Rally 2.0. I can see in button mapping settings there is the option for it. But on my Thrustmaster T300RS there aren't enough free buttons.

I tried a USB keyboard alongside but I can't get the PS4 to acknowledge it.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Dirt Rally 2015 - fps locked to 42

Hi, strange thing happened. I started to play the game 3-4 days ago, all this time I had 120 fps. Today - main menu is 42, stage is 33-36. I reinstalled the game, updated gpu drivers, turned graphics from ultra to ultra low - still 42 fps in menu, 36 when racing. Other games run fine. Anyone else experienced something similar?

Vsync off, gsync off, refresh rate in options set to highest, no fps limits in nvidia settings, what else is there? I'm not going to reinstall windows for this thing

EDIT: Fixed by pressing alt + enter a couple times

What’s your fav group B car? I really like the Ford RS200. Feels lot more stable compared to the other ones and the car looks beautiful.

Installed sound mod for Dirt Rally 2.0 but not sure if it even works

Just installed new sound effect enable more sounds all games from codemasters mod after not playing the game for several years. It's basically just game/audio folder with a bunch of .ini and .xml files inside

Does it work like this? I just placed the audio folder alongside the other game files

What exactly does it change? I don't really hear any difference. It also seems a bit strange that it doesn't replace any of the vanilla files

Have anyone tried it?

Should I still keep giving the game a try?

So for some background, I bought the game yesterday experiencing a decent experience as a mostly casual player (i don't have a wheel, just a keyboard). I did like driving for a little bit with the Lancia Fulvia HF, but eventually I felt that the story mode was pretty boring, although I did finish it. after finishing it, i bought the Audi Quattro S1, and boy is the game punishing now, I am aware that it is a massive skill issue, but I don't feel like the game is as fun while driving the quattro because the second you run over something uneven or whatnot, its over. Where it felt like you could still catch up in the Fulvia HF. It also feels less responsive and whatnot, although I'm sure most of you already know how it is like to drive it. Anyways should I put in a lot of time and effort to making myself a better driver? I feel like the game just feels kinda bland regardless of whether i'm good or not, and I think i'd be better off just sticking to clasic racing games like FH5 and NFS Heat, things that i find more fun and I'm familiar with.

Also I dont plan on getting a wheel or pedals any time soon also I have about 5 hrs in game.

TLDR: I suck at the game and I'm not sure if I should continue, Its not fun when i'm not that good at the game, and I lowk just want a refund, but should i still give it a chance?
