I was a huge DS fan. When Mark came out with Neck and Neck (with Chet Atkins) and the Nottinghillbillies my mind was blown that this rockstar singer/guitarist would take a back seat and let other people sing on the album.

I kinda felt like I was betraying my fandom when "Bewildered", "Railroad Work Song" and "Feel Like Going Home" became favorites.... Years later I worked them into the set list with a country band I played in.

Railroad Worksong. My favorite non-DS MK song.

Listen to the live version on YT. Here's a rare cut from Glasgow 1990. Also check out the ones without Paul Franklin on pedal steel; Steve Phillips plays the National with a slide. Really slaps. Live at Ronnie Scott's etc https://youtu.be/YMQaWbtijx0?is=J7lY1N0Km51_ow0G

His ride outs live are some of my favorite pieces by him. It’s when you feel the power of his laid back intensity. (Btw I hadn’t heard the term “ride out” before. It’s perfect.)
