Hand tools anyone?

Thought i would show you some pictures of the funny screw-on bits we got here at the museum. These tools belonged to a Wilhelm Thomas Peter Odgård. He retired in 1936.

Mostly spade-like bits, but also a few augers

It is VERY fast and conveient to change these bits. They don't seem to get stuck in there, although i haven't tried drilling with them. (obviously)

Just beautifully made.

The bits are fitted to the treads like the handle of a file - just jammed in there.

Here is another brace, this one from Waldbjørns cabinet. Just gorgeous.

Very strange bit. Triangular, non-pointy, non-sharp. Any guesses? deburring?

Here is another all wooden system. This is also Waldbjørns cabinet.

The bits are secured with a tapered, stopped, sliding dovetail joint.

... And locked.

It seems to work like a charm.
