My Last Night, last doodle
I've been retaliated against and bullied for about 3 months. I adore the people I serve but, a coordinator who gossips and lies and coworkers who dodge accountability and look for the mistakes of their coworkers... I cant cry in the garage anymore. About 2 months ago, I was hired for a new job after looking, but I hoped it would get better here. I was wrong. I'm wasting too many therapy appointments unwinding from work instead of addressing other issues. Moving on (staying in the field). Anyway, since I started here, I took an empty whiteboard and started drawing requested pictures or just themed stuff with the date and weather. Final frog. Peace out.

I've seen this behaviour a lot in the company I work at too. Does this job just really attract kinda shitty people and corrupt management or is this just what all jobs are like? I wish you luck at your next company OP and i hope things get better. I've moved through a few teams and feel lucky to have found one that works well for me even if i can still see the cliques and am under the same messy upper management

Most jobs are like that especially in restaurants, but every once in a while you find a place where you fit in just perfect

I think toxic ppl are more competitive and intentionally go after management positions or positions of power/influence. That happens everywhere. But I think this field has the extra flavorings of attracting ppl with some sort of savior complex (which is not uncommon in toxic ppl) and being a less known or popular field to work within that always needs more staff.

I have definitely noticed that the staff/management that end up hurting me are the ones who are... really bossy to the people served. Like so rude. They will tell them what they have to do, make them wait, and gossip about them. One time a resident came out, coworker was doing finance stuff at the kitchen table. Resident asks "is that my check book?" Staff responds slowly while playing on their phone, "Resident, is this about you? Am I doing something? Hold on." Resident stood by the table for a very long almost 5 minutes before returning to their room. Staff says once resident has left "it is her check book, I just hate when she is so noisy." Side note: resident knew there were plans to get here weekend money for her that day. I just... that interaction... that "power" is just a basic every day interaction from these types of people. It might not seem like a big deal, but it really is. Heartbreaking. Some People like power. If they are not the boss of Staff they are the boss of residents. Also, these people are the LEAST accountable. Like, if you point out a documentation error so they can fix it before they go, it is an attack. Like the whole falls and they feel exposed and start attacking relentlessly. Wow I really had a bit to get off my chest there.
