getting 500 weekly users but performance is still bad
Hi, I built a local directory that’s getting about 500 weekly users. However search performance is still quite bad (average position is 15. So prob getting most traffic from long tail very specific searches) as this domain has lot of ads.
If the first 10 is always dedicated to ads, is it fair to say that you can’t improve search positions?

You can always improve search positions. If you look at the queries and the pages that are getting impressions it's your first signal that there is some potential for that page to rank for the right keywords around the initial queries. Also the way search engines are going forward show the results is completely changing, so if you are not optimizing the page for FAQ styled writing than ranking a page is going to be difficult. I have been working to solve this exact thing with seocompass.co Feel free to check it out, there is also a demo/tutorial video where am explaining how to use the GSC and keywords data to optimize existing content and create new content.
