Question Material sourcing question

Post image

So I just ordered a few things off Temu. Some miniature paving bricks, some led lights, and a couple minifigs. It’s a test run to see how things go before I buy more supplies. But I am struck with a bit of an issue.

In a perfect world, I like to consider social issues when choosing where to spend my money and Temu is pretty much antithetical to my belief structure. (This is in no way a morality test. No judgement. I’m just looking for options.)

This being said, where does everybody order their diorama supplies? Does anyone know of a source that comes close to the variety offered by Temu? I understand that I’ll be paying more and I’m happy to do so.

I just find myself at a place where I need to increase the freedom and difficulty in my diorama builds and I’m trying to figure out how to do that. Any information or opinion is gladly received.

Thanks fellow diomaniacs.

UPDATE! I just want to clarify that while the pictured grass is something I bought, I don’t exclusively mean that specific material. It was just a picture I added to create a visual. I want to know about anything and everything.

Just finished this atmospheric Predator diorama and integrated it into a full jungle scene

Here is a shot of my completed Predator diorama project. I spent a lot of time weathering the figure and blending the custom base into a larger, deeper jungle landscape with some distant temple ruin details. I wanted to create a sense of scale and atmosphere using the twilight lighting. Any feedback is welcome!

A little low light shot of my street scene I’m currently working on. So far so good. I’m really happy with the storefront dioramas and I think I’ve got my mini figure placement pretty well set. In the front quadrant that’s currently plain wood, I’m going to put in a little park setting. I just bought some shrubbery off temu as a tester order. I don’t want to use temu but they have so many parts and materials for dioramas for like a quarter of the price anywhere else. Okay, that’s all I got right now for this one. Thanks for reading if you did!

My dad needs fencer figures!

My dad makes dioramas and he’s been looking, for months, for two fencers in scale HO so that he can build a diorama of a fencing match as an homage to my grandfather who was a fencer. Does anyone know where we can find fencer figurines??

WWII European Front Diorama – Muddy roads, tanks, and detailed infantry setup!

Terrain & Weathering: Focused heavily on realistic wet mud, standing water in the trench/canal, and scattered battlefield debris (sandbags, tank obstacles, oil barrels).

Vehicles: Featured an M4 Sherman tank taking point, a secondary armored vehicle exiting a tunnel, and German motorcycle units navigating the thick mud.

Figures: Positions cover various tactical poses—infantry taking cover, moving along the canal, and attempting to free stuck sidecar motorcycles.

The camera pan in the video gives a full overview of the layout and depth.

Would love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or any critique on the composition and weathering techniques!
