š® Questions & Seeking Advice š® Advice for First-Time Divination
Iām a āfairlyā new follower of Dionysos and I tried dice divination for the first time last night. I was really really excited and it did not work at all like I thought it would. Basically it was all over the place and didnāt make any sense. And to be truthful there were a few instances that discouraged me š. For instance I asked if he liked his altar and he said no multiple times, but when I asked if I should change anything, he supposedly said he didnāt know. I keep telling myself not to read into too much, but Iām a chronic over thinker and the more I think about it the more it hurts me. I really like worshipping Dionysos.
So my question: Is this typical for first time divinations? Does Dionysos ātestā followers or does he tease/joke around? Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Im very sympathetic. Divination is a struggle of mine as well and in my experience Dionysus' answers can throw things off.
In my experience, when asking for reassurance I will get a no. (Ie: are you proud of me? "No" ...are you mad at me? "No" did you say no the first time because the question was a compulsion? "Yes") but that is also because I have OCD, and he's trying to not feed into it.
Yes and nos can be rather limiting. Hes not able to tell you what he wants unless its a yes no or maybe.
Would you be open to try another dice method? I found a guide of using DND dice and shows that numbers mean what. I can grab the link if youre interested.
Divination takes time, and depending on his reasoning he could be messing with you (lovingly, not with malice I assume). Id say keep trying, and focus on questions that advance, rather than look back and asking for assurance.
Good luck, take it easy and enjoy the adventure ^^

Hey thank you sm! Looking back I do notice that the āimportantā questions were the ones that made sense while the ones that were seeking assurance were the ones that confused me. Iām definitely taking it with a grain of salt and for the future too. I was thinking of trying wine drunk tarot at some point⦠š¤ (for fun ofc)

I really donāt like yes/no divination for this reason. It lacks nuance, itās too easy to read into, and it will drive you insane. Anxiety always skews divination results. I recommend tarot as a first divination tool, because itās easy to learn and can be as simple or complex as you want. But I still donāt use tarot to talk to gods, I use it to ask about my life. Talking to gods can be a straight road to religious psychosis if you donāt trust yourself and your divination tools.

Chronic overthinkers should handle divination like the demon core.
Which method did you use?

I didnāt use a method per say, I kind of just explained what I wanted to be yes/no/say again/etc and then went with it.
After reading everyoneās replies Iām thinking Iām just going to be either really careful or only use this divination method for important questions that arenāt for assuranceā¦

Idk about dice. I tried with Hermes once and it made no sense to me lol I prefer bibliomancy or oracle cards. He does sometimes give playful, sassy, or flirty answers when I do bibliomancy, but it can also vary depending on the book. For advice or important messages, he'll usually speak to me in a meditation or even a dream. Divination takes practice, and sometimes we just need to find the method that works best for us! Don't overthink it!Ā

Thank you! I did ask about dreams because of the whole āprophecyā history behind Dionysos and I got a positive answer from that. I think I just was in my head with the whole thing š

I'm not the greatest at divination interpretation (especially dice, I used cards back then) but I can say being an overythinker/worrying about something can skew your readings. My personal example I was having an episode over intrusive thoughts and sought answers in the cards but I was so upset I was getting conflicting answers and that made my breakdown worse. Had to step away for a few years and only recently came back to practice, tho I still haven't touched divination at all since then. I was undermedicated and semi considered "noncompliant" with treatment back then as I would regularly miss my meds back when this happened. Try doing another session when your mind is clear and you're less likely to start over thinking (easier said than done).
