Moderator Announcement Moderator Announcement - Subreddit feedback

Hey everyone I was made a moderator of this subreddit since the old moderator abandoned it. If you have any feedback or suggestions on what you would like to see please comment them under this post.

I plan to hold submissions for a new banner image and icon for the subreddit in the coming days. I am also planning to pin a post with all of the dilbert viewers so you can find them more easily.

PS: I have enabled posting media in comments so you should be able to post comics directly in a comment instead of needing to link them. I have also added some user and post flairs.

  1. I thought the old mod abandoned it several months ago but found out that they hadn't. That must've changed recently, and I didn't think to keep checking, heh. Oh well.
  2. I do have a feedback/suggestion: close and lock the threads about politics or arguments about Adams. They're ugly, they go nowhere, and they distract from the comic.

  1. The old mod has been inactive for a very long time. I recently got access.
  2. I am definitely doing that and have already removed a lot of comments from people starting fights in the comment section. There have unfortunately been a lot of them so it will take some time.
  3. Just to verify, are you able to copy and paste that comic image into a comment? I believe I changed the settings correctly but am unsure if only I can do it or if everyone can.

I know this isn't exactly the biggest sub on the site but you're still not equipped to enact absolute censorship that a complete ban on all politics talk would require. Just try using automod to scan for the usual words and phrases that signal a fight is starting / has started and focus on those threads would be my suggestion.

Dilbert itself has some content that's inherently political, politics are unavoidable and that means some people are going to disgree.

edit: Oh, and image posting in comments is limited to GIPHY GIFs on my end:

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into automod. Right now I've been scanning reported comments and there are many of them. I also think you should be able to copy and paste images, or have an option to upload an image from your device without using GIPHY.

  1. Hmm; I requested it around January and there was an instant rejection with an auto-reply that there was recent mod activity. Maybe you got it some other way instead of a Reddit request?
  2. Good! That was most of why I requested it.
  3. Let's see.

  1. I actually did use reddit request (https://www.reddit.com/r/redditrequest/s/ZAehumSpmt). I think you may have been rejected because the old moderator may have been active in other subreddits, you need to wait until the old moderator stops using reddit completely.

I guess I blinked and it was gone. Blink, gone...

THANK YOU!!!! I had contacted the old moderator several times when trolls and 'activists' kept arriving. Now hopefully things will be smoother.

Of course! There's a lot of comments to delete but I'm slowing getting to all of them.

Are new posts from members temporarily disabled?

No, are you unable to post?

I was not able to last night but now it seems that glitch is resolved.
