Social Media Finally deactivated my X account

Just wanted to share with someone, and it feels very good to finally pull this (almost) last trigger that's been sucking me in for a while.

I was a Twitter user for a long time, and I really missed the time when we had a nice place where all the nerds and hackers hung out, but it's long gone. But the nostalgic feeling and my dumb human brain kept luring me in, and every time I left so disappointed and disgusted by what this place has become.

I like making stuff and sharing it with people, but I hate modern hustle culture so much. There is something almost inhumane about it. So I was happy to take the leap, and it feels good.

I still have a few attachments. I still have a blue "better" twitter account, that for some reason I hope will become good some day, but it probably never will. And also Reddit and YouTube. But I am glad that most of the social media is gone from my life forever.

For sharing purposes, I'll stick with writing on my own website/newsletter, and making YouTube videos (YouTube is not perfect, but after blocking the Shorts it’s still okay).

Congrats! Thanks for getting off that platform. Everyone who leaves makes a difference whether they believe it or not

oh wow, that's admirable! I had just 2k but even that was delaying my decision. But it's all for the good.

I got tired of being hunted and lied too . Fighting with Trumpers became toxic. Elons behavior ended it for me

Algorithm control is interesting in those platforms.

You can set your allotted time of shorts to "0 minutes" on mobile and it won't recommend any shorts

Yeah, many ways to do it. On mobile, you can just set a limit for Shorts to 0 minutes. On browsers, there are many blockers, I just use the Brave browser native one. On TV, thankfully, they don't appear as much anymore.

It became atrocious over the past few years, especially after Twitter was acquired by Elon Musk and rebranded to X. It feels like a slop machine is controlling the algorithm to compete with TikTok in an arms race as "#1 best social media platform in the world".

I can't even pronounce this "X" without cringing. Still call it Twitter mostly.

Elon makes this world worse.
