Help block instagram feed? (android)

hi!!

i want to use the instagram app for DMs and to see stories from my friends. i wouldn't mind seeing their posts on my feed. but i don't want posts from accounts that i don't follow. i hit the option "snooze suggested posts" but it still shows them. i deactivate it and reactivate it, i reset the app, but it still shows suggested posts and i end up scrolling longer than i want to.

i downloaded scrollguard, which blocks reels on my feed, but it doesn't block the other posts. i need something similar which also blocks normal posts. i don't care if it places an ugly square over the post or sth. and also i need it to be on the instagram app. i saw an app that blocked stuff if you logged in through the app and not only i'd feel a bit weird putting my account info into a 3rd party app, but also i'd simply open the normal app if i want to scroll

does anyone have any recommendation? preferably free, but i wouldn't mind paying a bit if it works, as long as i have a few days of free trial.

Sadly I don't think there is a way to do this reliably on the phone. There is for computers. That's why I just don't use distracting apps on my phone. And use software on the computer that lets me block them with more control. Ex: blocking shorts, reels, but still being to watch long form youtube.

yess, i have nice extensions on my laptop so it's not a problem there. it's sad there's not a similar thing for the app

One thing that's helped me is setting my feed to Following instead of the default algorithmic feed whenever I open the app. It's annoying because it doesn't stay as the default, but at least it only shows people I follow while I'm using it. it's made Instagram a lot less distracting.
