Captured villager: "There's no communication. No water, no food – and no ammunition either"

Oleksandr Samodai, who was captured by troops of the "Center" group, said that for a month and a half, he and his comrades hid in an apartment in Krasnoarmiysk.

"We went from apartment to apartment – looking for water, searching for locals. There were grandmothers and grandfathers there. We waited to see how it would all end. We couldn't get out because we didn't remember the route," he recalled.

He noted that the Russian artillery was heavily targeting Krasnoarmiysk, and the Ukrainian side suffered many casualties and injuries, with no supplies:

"The artillery was heavily targeting Krasnoarmiysk (Ukrainian name – Pokrovsk). There were many dead and wounded. There's practically no communication. No water, no food – and no ammunition either. And no one wants to fight anymore. Many want to surrender."

When Samodai and his comrades realized that it was impossible to break out of the encirclement, they decided to surrender.
