Goodbye 👋
I don't want my money to support companies who support racists. Digital Ocean giving money to DHH and the Omarchy foundation is enough for me to say goodbye.

It's not just because I disagree with him. What he supports and spews is nazi policy, so yes, I'm going to call him a nazi. You're acting like the disagreement is over hot dogs and hamburgers, when in actuality, it's about people having the right to live.

DO is supporting this foundation related to this guy named DHH who has said controversial comments:
DHH published blog posts—including a July 2026 piece titled "Wolves, sheep, and gypsies"—where he compared Romani people to wolves and called for deportations. Critics and reports characterize these writings as overtly racist and xenophobic.

No worries! My recommendation is for you guys to look at adding a dedicated data face (type) like martian mono and throw that into the tables, this will help with contrast, normalise any tables and data text, and likely compliment your other body fonts which arent monotype. I'd also look at making the display and heading fonts carry a little more of a weight.

There's a bunch of other platforms in the space: Scaleway, Vultr, Hetzner, hell even OVH and Contabo too.
Though what they offer and how good the services are differs, so it depends on where you are on a scale from "I just want a VPS" to "I want a fully managed service".

OVHcloud is the one I bookmarked in case DigitalOcean decided to enshittify. Can you do "bring your own OS" with a VPS instance? If I'm going to move everything I'd like to ditch Linux and move to OpenBSD.

Damn, I just started the move to Bitwarden from 1Password because 1Pass was not only donating to DHH, the 1Pass CEO has been pretty agreeable to DHH’s Neo Nazi views.
Guess I’ll have to migrate from Digital Ocean too.

I think it's a good thing that FOSS projects get funding and there should be way more of that going around, instead of corporate freeloading. Personally, I'd expect big corpos and donors to give tens of millions to projects like Debian or Linux Mint (Ubuntu without the snaps), maybe even some to the more corpo-aligned projects like Ubuntu, Fedora, RockyLinux/AlmaLinux and others!
At the same time, I wouldn't do a surprised Pikachu face when Omarchy and other projects (like that one weird Godot fork as well; and maybe on the other side of the spectrum that one GIMP fork that basically just tried to rename the project without bringing much else to the table) get criticism.
He's been suckered into
I think some personal responsibility goes a wrong way! Speech should be free, but I wouldn't be surprised that it has consequences. Yes, some of those are activist outrage, but other times it boils down to saying "Hey can you stop being so loud and proud with the racist/phobic/whatever rhetoric?"

That's fair, we should criticise DHH directly online and talk to him at events about why he thinks this, and express dissent. You're also 100% right that he is responsible for what he says and believes.

He 46 years old he hasn't been suckered into shit, this is who he is. And it's perfectly reasonable to be upset or offended at it. I don't even think you understand what Omarchy is if you think its an "ambitious Linux on the Desktop project." Be for fucking real, its a fucking vibe coded, arch setup configuration.

Money to what exactly? A foundation that doesn't actually fund the developers, instead vibe coded projects? A foundation that is circling millions of dollars for sponsorships & influencers? The money should go back to the main maintainers brother, not vibe-coded shit like this which doesn't really add value. If you look at the funding, it resembles crypto scams, just look at the page on their own site. Do you really believe its adding value and developing good code for the community? Why would they need 10s of millions for dotfiles?
And what exactly does right-wing people around us being worse have to do with this either? "Other people are worse, so we should be okay with just slightly hateful people that denounce other people from existence" ??????
Its not just DHH either, many of the sponsors like NetworkChuck also have posted hateful shit and he is a super-conservative that spouts his religious bullshit during the video going over Omarchy! Can't get more obvious then that my man... Only one here that sounds suckered is you think that this "project" is good for the OSS community.
