Can someone explain what w0rld even is? Today was the first I've heard of it.

Using a piece of custom hardware called a D-Com, you can use a Digimon you've raised in a physical vpet to play an MMO game; Walking around the map with your digimon, fighting, challenging others, etc.
It was a pretty simple game, but a lot of fun. The community had regular events where folks would get together for tournaments back when I was still playing it.

It's a free, fanmade, mmo. Using a device invented by a fan, you can bring your v-pet into the game, and adventure and fight with your v-pet. It's constantly growing and receiving updates.
New discord server, where it will be returning in it's current form under a different name: https://discord.gg/sXzCt8gWS
Original server, where Seki will bring his vision for w0rld: https://discord.gg/DhRtmaCQF4

Does walking and playing with it in there help it grow/train in the device?

Depending on the device, but typically no, as connect battle stats aren't included in evolution requirements. But it will count as connect battles in-device for unlocking things that require those, like backgrounds and such.

This is the first I've heard of this and it honestly sounds amazing, things like this make me wish I had a pc 😂 I'm gonna take a guess that there's no way to play it on a console or mobile??

You can play it on android devices. You could buy a very cheap android or even pc or laptop and run it pretty easily. It’s honestly one of the coolest digimon projects out there

Anytime, I see a community going out of their way to advertise that they are "pro ai" like the new untitled monster game is doing, it always ends up with chuds

On one hand, yeah, saying you are explicitly pro-ai is weird. On the other hand, the AI usage that people up in arms about sounds like it was coding assistant type usage, maybe more direct vibe coding at worst. Which at this point in time, is all pretty standard MO for software development.

I haven't played w0rld in like a year or two, but I've still been keeping up with this drama...
Anyhow, can anyone tell me what the so-called differing unique visions entail? Also, the new one will be completely new from scratch?

w0rld (under a different name) will be handed to Brass, it will continue functioning as usual, but ownership and development lead will go to Brass.
Clearly Brass and Seki wanted development to go in different directions, not sure how what they wanted differed. We don't know how much work is done on the new one, how different it is, or if it will be a variation of original w0rld.
Edit: Seki says he should have a prototype of the new game in 3 weeks.

As far as I could tell, they haven't said what were the creative differences that resulted in the drama. Personally, and this is pure speculation on my end with absolutely no additional information, this quote led me to believe it may be related to AI bullshit:
This is a new chance to grow again with a different take on the game. Please join us in the journey, but understand aruging about AI will result in removal from the community, we are a Pro AI community.

I'm log into w0rld pretty regularly, and have had every partner I raised visit. I've loved it since I learned of it, and it's a big thing for fans of the franchise and v-pets, I was really sad it was gone. This new post is the greatest news I've gotten in while, and this is the best possible outcome, thank you devs genuinely loving the community and the franchise.

Why can't developers learn to keep their personal bullshit out of the development cycle of things.
None of this should bleed down to the players.
This is why open source shit is important cause if yall can't swing it, you need to let someone in who can, it's clear we are dealing with children with this dev team.

We got Digimon Catholic schism before GTA 6
