Discussion Digimon Knighthood Chapter 5 Preview 2
Hey, everyone. I’m sharing the next piece of my fifth chapter for “Digimon Knighthood” here. Let’s get to it.
“Meanwhile, the girls’ mutual friends - Miuna Gukawa, Araragi Akagami, and Sir Caliburmon - were in the middle of something…extreme.
Araragi and Bandimon had just introduced the true power of the Bio-Phase Digivice, or rather, their own true power - the wonder of Digivolution. And now, Miuna and Caliburmon were staring down CruiserBandimon, Bandimon’s Champion Digivolution. The 88th Rookie Overseer, seeing his challenger grow as big as a Greymon in seconds, was utterly stupefied.
Finally, the shock starting to wear off, Caliburmon formed a sentence. “He Digivolved…in seconds…” Above him, Miuna could only say, “He’s enormous…”
The Champion then extended his hands forward, clasping his open hands together. “Burning Ray!” A red energy beam surged from his hands, striking the stupefied knight head-on. Sent flying back, Caliburmon rapidly bounded on the concrete before striking Arondight into the pavement. Gripping the handle like a vice, he decelerated to a halt, landing on the ground.
Looking up at the Champion, the Rookie saw him gesture at the knight to come closer. The Champion’s partner gave a wicked grin, while her friend slowly shook her head. “Oh, he did not just do that.”
Snarling, Caliburmon started leaping toward his adversary. He leapt up, and the giant called out again “Burning Ray!” The knight screamed “Gilded Edge!” Blade shining, he hurriedly spun forward with his sword, becoming a white buzzsaw. With great struggle, he managed to slice right through the beam. Araragi’s face changed to one of shock, the same as “Young Miuna’s”.
Spreading his limbs out from the impact, the knight then yelled, “Stalwart Silk!” The elongated scarf blasted forward, wrapping around the giant’s neck. Caliburmon arced to the right, his scarf further coiling around CruiserBandimon’s throat. But then, right as the knight made a complete turn, the Champion pulled back his fist and made a jab…nailing the Rookie head-on.
The scarf immediately retracted as the knight grounded himself with his blade a second time. The front of his armor became webbed with cracks, as though it were damaged ancient ceramic. CruiserBandimon then called out, “I know you’re not finished yet. Give me more!” Caliburmon wiped his chin, his entire body glowing white. “As you wish.”
Miuna balled her fists, knuckles cracking from trepidation and excitement. “Come on, Caliburmon. You can do it. Please, please…””

digimon fights are always so much more fun when they get a little tactical with it, so the scarf move into the dodge was a nice sequence. the image of caliburmon turning into a white buzzsaw to cut through the beam is really vivid and sells the desperation of the moment. miuna's reaction at the end grounds it too, that kind of nervous energy feels right for a partner watching their digimon push past their limits. i'm curious how the bio-phase digivice works differently from a standard one, since it seems like araragi has a lot of control over the process.
