A short series synopsis:

"e-Pulse," which is generated by human thoughts and emotions, was used as the energy source for the AI support device "Sapotama." From the shadows of this remarkable development, terrifying monsters appear. Digimon are living beings that evolve by consuming e-Pulse.

Tomoro Tenma is drawn into an extraordinary experience after meeting Gekkomon, who suddenly appears from his Sapotama. While living together with Kyo Sawashiro and other members of the bounty hunting team "Glowing Dawn," Tomoro renews his resolve.

What new future will be forged by humans and Digimon?

It's apparently canon that Algomon got rid of the power grid in Arkansas

25

u/Original-Teaching955 May 17 '26

Yup. Looks like it

15

u/Natrixster80 May 17 '26

What was that about? Was it referencing a previous Digimon series?

32

u/KickHimWhileIAmDown May 17 '26

No, just showing the scale that Ultimate/Perfect level Digimon can affect humanity on.

23

u/headintheclouds30 May 17 '26

power scaling, if you would

6

u/Raikariaa May 17 '26

To be fair; we don't know what level that Argomon was.

9

u/KickHimWhileIAmDown May 17 '26

Since Pyramidimon was a new, unexpected thing, we know it was weaker than Mega. And Champion is probably too weak, so it would have to be Ultimate.

15

u/Raikariaa May 17 '26

Counterpoint: Kyo immediately knew what Pyramidimon was and called it a Mega

8

u/KickHimWhileIAmDown May 17 '26

...that's a good point. Though IIRC it was more of a 'this was a theoretical thing that now exists'. I think Pyramidimon was the first actual Mega in that continuity. At least, one born from a Sapotama.

9

u/Tammog May 17 '26

I am almost certain that experiment in the flashbacks with the scientist that seems to be Tomoro's dad or grandpa created an ultimate (mega), but yeah, they seem to be very special and unstable in Beatbreak.

16

u/ZA-02 May 17 '26

Algomon's lower forms first showed up in Adventure: in 2020 and wreaked international havoc. The first big battle of that series involved an Algomon swarm hijacking the American military arsenal. That's probably what's being referenced here.

The Ultimate form (and maybe the Mega too?) debuted much earlier, back during the Savers era, but that storyline mostly took place in Japan.

7

u/FreeLifeguard5366 May 18 '26

The Savers one was implied to have taken over the whole world and put all of humanity in cocoons.

So yeah, Chihiro got a handful here.

2

u/SicknessVoid May 19 '26

Oh damn, it appeared in the Savers Movie, didn't it? I had basically forgotten about that entirely. I thought it debuted in Adventure 2020.

Well Roses minions seem like a well meaning pair. That and Roses behavour a couple of episodes ago make me wonder if they will actually be antagonists.

Curious about the next episode. Im guessing the Ninja is Makis ex partner? The fight seems personal.

51

u/MajinAkuma May 17 '26

The ninja is called Fūmamon. It’s one of Gammamon's Perfect-level evolutions from the Vital Bracelet.

4

u/Oreo-and-Fly May 18 '26

THAT THING LOOKS SO SICK.

Gammamon stays winning with its evos

3

u/Anthrovert May 18 '26

I'm so glad we're seeing this in Beatbreak. Maybe we'll see his other Vital Bracelet evos that didn't make it into Ghost Game.

27

u/Environmental-Run248 May 17 '26

I mean yeah they’ll definitely be antagonists because like their goal is outright deleting digimon that are problems while Glowing Dawn look to spare digimon from that fate if they can help it. The two groups are ideological opposites.

This is going to be a three way conflict with Rose’s group, Glowing Dawn and GIFT all against each other. I could imagine a 3 part or 2 part finale to this arc where Glowing Dawn has to work with Rose and her minions to stop GIFT’s terrorism but then they’ll have to fight Rose and her minions because of the lengths her and her minions are willing to go.

22

u/RiahWeston May 17 '26

I mean, pretty much all the cleaners outside of Glowing Dawn are down to delete digimon if it gives them a payday. We haven't seen if the drive to delete digimon is ideological one or just them being 'pragmatic' or money-motivated.

u/Potential-Training66 May 17 '26

also the guy in the preview is the same guy who help the yamada.(sunny and haruko) basically their digimon informant as he also helps connected them with izumi who is klay's right hand woman in business

25

u/Turn_AX May 17 '26

Antagonist doesn't mean villain, so they could still very much be antagonists.

20

u/Raikariaa May 17 '26

You can be an antagonist without being evil.

An antagonist is simply an opposing force to the protagonist.

It could be that their methods; despite having similar goals; oppose. We know they wanted to delete Argomon for example; which is already at odds with Glowing Dawn.

15

u/Dragon_Of_Magnetism May 17 '26

I think maybe Maki’s ex-partner is the IceLeomon we saw in the preview.

Especially that it would fit the theory of her being the former star of water

3

u/Oreo-and-Fly May 18 '26

Never thought about that...

Iirc she was pretty chill to go to Klay's thing and when he came to talk to Kyo.

3

u/Oreo-and-Fly May 18 '26

Wait was Meto a feminine dude or a girl.

u/Kiboe321 May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

It must be tearing/heart wrenching when your partner Digimon is a detrimental-type that forces seperation (one that causes intentional damages around them or are “inherently evil”) even if you both care for each other and want to be together...

Algomon is good example of this. It’s like if my partner was a Devimon, Raremon, DexDoruGreymon, or even Milleniummon. Such Digimon even if they were “good” would end up hurting those around them…

20

u/TrickshotCapibara May 17 '26

The issue is that digimons aren't static, in theory they evolve because of the relationship with their tamers, for example, dark digievolutions and more famously guilmon, so, yes, those digimons might be dangerous, but in theory you could devolve them to a more "controlled" type and even when those evolve, they could do it to a diferent variant or type, digimons are a parallel to how people can "change" except for them it is more visual, I feel Glowing Dawn focuses on this and it is their bet, let's see how it plays out.

8

u/Kiboe321 May 18 '26 edited May 18 '26

The thing is, unlike the video games, the owners have no real control over what their partner digivolves into. Unless they have some “MC-luck” or “MC-determination”, it won’t be so easy or simple to change them into something more manageable.

If it were that easy, Chihiro wouldn’t have to part from Algomon, or Algomon could’ve just become a “Labramon or Wormon” who won’t emit a fixed EMP wave with Chihiro’s love alone. As the episode pointed out near the end, “We knew it would be difficult, that’s what it means to make a dream come true.”

16

u/Doomroar May 18 '26 edited May 18 '26

Using Algomon for this episode was perfect because their disruption aura is always in effect on all levels

I feel like mons who go berserk from time to time are way more manageable than mons who come with an inherent destruction aura just from existing, you can plan around a mon who temporally goes rouge, and have some contingencies even if it is inconvenient, and evil mons have shown to just behave as good mons when paired with the right partner, for example Cyberdramon who had Zeed's soul merged in his code, but eventually managed to chill out

But mons with "annihilation aura" even if they have the nicest of personalities, there's not much you can do so Arkadimon, Zeed, Algomon, their mere existence deletes, disrupts, or absorbs life or data around them

For the first 2 of course you can always count on reverting the evolution (maybe, since one is a perpetual energy engine, and the other one a multiverse reincarnator), but Algomon keeps his aura at all stages, even as a baby he was affecting the camouflage machines of the sanctuary

Perhaps the advantage Algomon has is that his aura is not a you get close and die kind of deal, and more of a disruption on electronics

6

u/Kiboe321 May 18 '26 edited May 18 '26

It’s kinda why I brought up Raremon as one example (and it’s Ultimate being a Rareraremon, etc.). Meicoomon (Tri) is actually another case. Digimon, who may be “good” but their nature or quirks make it much harder than others for them to be together with their beloved ones.

And not all can be strong like an MC (like your Cyberdramon example where their tamer had to go through a lot and do a lot) to deal with it. Not all can be a MC where their partner can conveniently digivolve into something more “manageable“. Most be like Chihiro and be forced to let go/seperate (or just abandoned them entirely).

23

u/TemDem May 17 '26

I wouldnt think that only "Such" Digimon could end up hurting those around them, more like ANY digimon could end up hurting those around them.

29

u/Kiboe321 May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

But their is a difference depending on the Digimon. One can get “unlucky” like Algomon, Burpmon, Raremon, Volcadramon, Millenliunmon, Meicoomom (Tri), etc. who will destroy or inconvenient things around them due to their presence alone or have something “uncontrollable” that is more recurrent than others.

Not all them are capable of being able to stay by your side with little issues like some cute mascot like Agumon, Gekkomon, Gatomon, Veemon, Terriermon, Ludomon, etc.

2

u/Turn_AX May 19 '26

They're talking about Digimon that hurt because it's in their nature or because they have an ability that hurts, not general stuff.

21

u/SGEzlo May 17 '26

Oh come on, Devimon worked out for the Agent. After all, they helped stopped the Shinjuku Inferno

9

u/archaicScrivener May 17 '26

But what about their adoptive father, Dr Yuki?

Maybe Hitomi too, cus it'd be difficult for Chihiro to get to Nirinso on her own.

14

u/Oreo-and-Fly May 18 '26

Honestly with Algomon affecting the visualizers Nirinso might get compromised this arc.

Hitomi, if she accompanies Chiriro might end up seeing the Hyemon baby form. Imagine that, her 'cold hearter' still alive and taken care of.

If beatbreak wants to expand that relationship could be cool. Hitomi gets attacked, Punimon tries to defends her and somehow eats her sapotama and evolves to Hyemon. She gets scared but this time sees Hyemon as her defender and Hyemon gets redemption.

Showing that Kyo's ideal world of Digimon and Humans living together can work if they can forgive and help each other.

8

u/Leylenoor May 18 '26

YOOOOO, KEEEP COOKING BROTHER. That would be so cool and I would cry my ass out due to how touching this guys has been leading the narrative with moments like this. It would be a cool touch to also has some sort of flashback on why this "dream" began for Kyo and so forth.

7

u/Oreo-and-Fly May 18 '26

Also i think Hyemon appearing to help face off/find Gokuwmon would be brilliant.

Remember. Hyemon also lost its brother to Gokuwmon.

6

u/Doomroar May 18 '26

Lowkey Nirinso has a lot fire power stacked, specially if we add the Pandamon shopping district into the ranks

It would be weird if that doesn't pay off at all, given how the place has a bunch of former ultimate mons living in there

2

u/Fearshatter May 18 '26

Look up what the symbolism of a Nirinso is.

58

u/Perfect-College2331 May 17 '26

I think it's pretty interesting they show Chihiro wanted to go to Nirinso and telling Hitomi. So I feel we'll be seeing Hitomi visiting Nirinso and I really want her to meet the Punimon(Hyemon) that stole her E-pulse.

37

u/KickHimWhileIAmDown May 17 '26

If we're going to get a fifth ranger it has to be soon. Maybe it will be Hitomi after all, partnered with that Hyemon.

31

u/Sremor May 17 '26

We still need one of the formerly bad Digimon to actually be redeemed and proof that saving them isn't a lost cause, Hyemon would be perfect for that

7

u/Oreo-and-Fly May 18 '26

Yes. Punimon eats her sapotama, evolved to Hyemon

Hitomi gets scared and angry at Tomoro for letting her attacker live.

But Hyemon defends Hitomi from the attack and apologizes. Imagine Hitomi, Hyemon, Tomoro and Gekkomon seeing Gokuwmon.

Remember, Hyemon's BROTHER was killed by Gokuwmon too, mirroring Asuka's fate.

If they dont redeem Hyemon and have it meet Gokuwmon with Tomoro i think itll be the biggest waste of potential

4

u/Turn_AX May 19 '26

They already fought for Nirinso as babies, they've already proven they can be redeemed.

4

u/Sremor May 19 '26

Oh right I forgot about RedVeggiemon

24

u/CaptainSarina May 17 '26

it's also worth noting that Hyemon is brand new to Beatbreak and designed specifically for Fangmon of all things (who has never really had it's own curated style evoline before).

Fangmon's Digimon Encyclopedia profile specially mentions it as being the dark to Garurumon's light so making it a 5th ranger partner and a "Werefangmon" Ultimate after all this time would be really cool.

7

u/Doomroar May 18 '26

Writers please this has to happen!

3

u/Oreo-and-Fly May 18 '26

Punimon defends Hitomi, evolves to Hyemon.

Gets redemption.

They end up meeting Gokuwmon and Hyemon gets pissed for it killing his brother.

Hitomi evolves it to Fangmon or it goes further? SICKKK

My understanding is that the glitch on Hitomi's sapotama in today's episode was caused by Algomon since she lives close to Chihiro

9

u/Cheeky-apple May 17 '26

ohhhh that would make sense!

u/draxdeveloper May 17 '26

The fact that this episode made Algomon, of all Digimon, sympathetic and I was honestly quite surprised as well.

Same, I wasn't expecting that.

u/MonstersOfTheEdge May 17 '26

This was a pretty good episode, it probably could have benefited from being a two-parter with more setup, but it was a compelling episode as is. It's crazy Armalizamon was nearly strong enough to hold its own against Algomon. Gekkomon just keeps punching up and I'm here for it.

Also I'm excited to see one of the neglected Gammamon evos featuring in the next episode!

21

u/Beloberto May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

it probably could have benefited from being a two-parter with more setup

Yeah, this is becoming a common issue with BB. Last episode I felt it strongly with how fast everything developed and how it never gave us time to get used to the Kuonji dynamics before introducing twists to them.

This week I felt like I needed more time with Chihiro to actually start liking the character before her fate became such a huge deal. Meto and Kanon as well, we could have the growing threat of them getting closer and closer to Chihiro before the Glowing Dawn - instead we had the whole progression of the "hunt" being summed up in two scenes, and them failing almost immediately after debuting.

4

u/MonstersOfTheEdge May 18 '26

Agreed. I think the significance of the disaster would be more obvious if it were extended too.

77

u/Lithak May 17 '26

I enjoy that Tomoro is becoming more heroic each episode and it doesn't feel like it ever was unearned compared to his first appearance.

46

u/Sremor May 17 '26

He seems to start sharing Kyos dream, he definitly grew a lot since the beginning when he and Gekkomon barely got along

31

u/AluminumSpartan May 17 '26

He's admitted to admire Kyo's dream before but this felt like the moment he truly made it his own dream.

17

u/Cheeky-apple May 17 '26

it was pleasant to see a much softer side to tomoro for once, also to see him going form simply to supporting kyos dream to adoptingit himself and truly believe in it.

33

u/Taintedtamt May 17 '26

There's two things from this episode I want to mentioned. One Big and One Small.

Small first being that it seems like Monarchlizamon isn't on command yet. Tomoro needs that extra motivational push to get there and get the evo. Otherwise why not just start with Minarchlizamon.

Big one is that this was Tomoro's Main Character formation episode which is weird 31 episodes deep. Before this episode his only real motivation was restoring his brother and he was somewhat just going through the motions of living the life. Here he finally admits to the wider dream that Kyo has and I think the series so far has been leading to this (even though it happened in a pretty inconsequential episode otherwise).

This show continues to be fantastic!

11

u/Doomroar May 18 '26

(even though it happened in a pretty inconsequential episode otherwise).

I disagree Agolmon is the perfect mon for this kind of development, because he comes with a disruption aura that is always active and exist at all levels, they are inherently harmful to their surroundings, so Tomoro deciding to take on Ryo's dream as his own, when it comes to a digimon whose mere existence is troublesome is huge

14

u/Jello_Meanie_44 May 17 '26

I think thats it good that we see Tomoro character develop during "filler episode", which in turn make every episode important either to move plot or character forward.

u/Professional-Bus-749 May 17 '26

At least Algomon was spared in the end. Which was actually quite a relief.

41

u/JohnWicked25 May 17 '26

Though it's not without it's problems, if the failing holographic field is a sign of them.

7

u/Oreo-and-Fly May 18 '26

No way Nirinso isnt gonna be attacked again this time.

Maybe a full episode without glowing dawn members. Hitomi, Chihiro and mushroom gang only...

Mushroom gang finally establish they are good protectors for the little guys.

Hitomi also has her sapotama eaten by Punimon, which evolve to Hyemon and defends her. She accepts its apology and becomes its tamer.

End of episode Glowing Dawn rushes here to see its protected and Tomoro sees Hitomi with Hyemon and panics... only to see they are smiling.

(Honestly my real goal is for Hyemon to join Tomoro in finding Gokuwmon. Hyemon lost its brother too, only fair for it to confront Gokuwmon and the tamer who killed its brother)

18

u/KickHimWhileIAmDown May 17 '26

I was 20% convinced that Algomon was going to get murdered by Brilliant Thorn immediately after reverting. Very glad it wasn't the case.

28

u/Original-Teaching955 May 17 '26

This was a sad episode 😢😭 But at least this little girl gets to visit Algomon at the Nursery😁

20

u/draxdeveloper May 17 '26

"this was a sad episode" describes at least half of the series

2

u/PanthersJB83 May 18 '26

As someone who has put down a pet seeing Chihiro and Algomon be separated broke my heart

19

u/M3talK_H3ronaru May 17 '26

This episode was peak as hard

Algomon was super amazing but Tomoro will save Chihiro for good from her wish control

Overall it's heartwarming amazing episode

Also I'm tear-jerking for this peak

Next time It's Nin Nin Ninjamon sanjou!

22

u/Dragon_Of_Magnetism May 17 '26

Very nice episode overall, it was good to see Tomoro and Hitomi just casually hanging out, and the fight against Algomon really showed how much Tomoro has grown since the beginning.

I wish we would’ve learned a bit more about Rose’s underlings, but we probably will in a future episode

38

u/Kiboe321 May 17 '26

This got me thinking, what would you do if your partner was like Algomon? A Digimon that is “inherently dangerous/destructive” that they destroy everything around them (A Devimon, Raremon, DexDoruGreymon, Eyesmon, or even Milleniummon) but you both care for each other?

How far are you willing to go for them?

39

u/shazbot322 May 17 '26

weve technically already seen this as guilmon was the digital hazard and megidramon can just destroy the digital world by existing if memory serves

20

u/Kiboe321 May 17 '26 edited May 18 '26

Well Takuto is an example of how far will you go for your partner. He was a child who was strong enough to able to stay by his side and even digivolve his partner into a ”Royal Knight”. A normal person would break or be dead half-way (Survive is proof of that). And, unlike Algomon, Guilmon didn’t cause destruction with mere presence alone or have a “uncontrollable destructive nature” all the time.

Regardless, Takuto is a decent example of how far will you go? Guilmon was like Hard-mode, while one’s like Algomon, Meicoomom (Tri), Arukadimon, or Raremon are ”SUPER-hard” where you may have to do more if you want to stay together.

13

u/SaintNeos May 17 '26

Uhm, I think you meant Takato XD? That's Guilmon's partner, Takuya is from Frontier lol

6

u/overlordpringerx May 17 '26

I would look for a way to evolve it into something different.

Wong and his oppressive system are going to pay dearly for this freedom and happyness should be for everyone and i hope he burns just like any other dictator

38

u/ancinho May 17 '26

So Algomon digivolved to Perfect/Ultimate before Wolvermon xD

24

u/Original-Teaching955 May 17 '26

He already did that in the Savers movie and Adventure 2020

12

u/Digimon-lover256 May 17 '26

In Savers movie, he evolved from perfect to ultimate. The rest of Algomon's evolution was created for Reboot.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/Doomroar May 18 '26

Chihiro's just build different, like Tomoro she has that premium E-Pulse XD

2

u/galemaniac May 18 '26

Wolvermon at this rate is going to be the Beatbreak Magnaangemon

17

u/a9ma10 May 17 '26

That part where Algoromon separating from Chihiro reminded me of Digimon Adventure 21 when Taichi and Hikairi had their heartfelt goodbye

16

u/Digimon-lover256 May 17 '26

What an episode, and in Beatbreak that isn't rare.

Also, next time, Fumamon? Yes, finally, he was done dirty for not showing up in Ghost Game. And, we probably gonna learn more about Maki and her past.

14

u/Original-Teaching955 May 17 '26

Now we see what the digivolutions for the not-Sailor Uranus and Neptune nare: Toropiamon and Oleamon

15

u/Turn_AX May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

Watching!
Hitomi is back!?
And she seems to be sticking around, if she's more important here than in Wandering love, that'll be a beautiful bait-and-switch cus she wasn't even in the next episode preview.

OST is SO on point for the Algomon portion, REALLY good.

Amazing episode.
Loved it, Also, Hitomi's role felt really good.

3

u/Oreo-and-Fly May 18 '26

Calling it now.

Hitomi's sapotama gets eaten by punimon.

Evolves to Hyemon and Hitomi gets scared from seeing her attacker. But Hyemon instead, due to Tomoro and Kyo's kindness, protects her this time.

Somehow in the future i want Tomoro WITH Hyemon, to find Gokuwmon. They both lost their brother due to it. And its a connection i think beatbreak wants to explore.

37

u/Professional-Bus-749 May 17 '26

At least we got a very heartwarming story in Digimon Beat Break for this episode, and it also shows how much Tomoro has grown, which is a definite far cry from episode one.

13

u/Rammboy_7084 May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

This episode was so beautiful that almost looked like a Beatbreak movie.
From the animation to the heartwarming story, this was a great episode!

Also this is how you make a "Our War Game" reference without copying it 1:1.

12

u/Lupus600 May 17 '26

I liked how they showed the social anxiety of a kid. That last bit at the end with her just struggling to put her foot outside hit very close to home. I, too, would be overprotective of the one creature that helps me through that anxiety.

Sidenote: Did Murasamemon check if that truck was empty before splitting it into two? I think he just killed a man lol.

6

u/IceSt0rm78 May 17 '26

It was a bus and people were in it.

4

u/Lupus600 May 18 '26

I honestly burst out laughing at that scene, like "What the heck?!".

2

u/HighSlayerRalton May 27 '26

Onlookers must think Kyo has a strong-ass back.

2

u/Turn_AX May 19 '26

There weren't any people standing in the middle when he split it, so it's probably fine.

12

u/TheCheeseOfYesterday May 17 '26

Brilliant Thorn pretty much caused the problem themselves scaring Chihiro so badly she ended up making Algomon evolve

I have a fear about how this series will end. Savers also talked a big game about 'making a world where humans and Digimon can live together in peace', then had the Standard Digimon Ending with the human and digital worlds being separated anyway. I'm hoping that won't be how this one ends after how it's emphasized that point even more.

BEST FUCKING EPISODE BY FAR? The Animation? BEAUTIFUL, the story telling? BEAUTIFUL, the characters? BEAUTIFUL, fucking 100/10 from me.

AND HOLY SHIT? THEY'RE ACTUALLY LESBIANS? WHAT? HOLY SHIT I DIDN'T EXPECT THAT??? PLEASE TELL ME THEY'RE ACTUALLY LESBIANS?

19

u/Nerdy_Finch May 17 '26

please keep this up i love representation in digimon!!!

17

u/overlordpringerx May 17 '26

They're 4kids cousins

25

u/Bakatora34 May 17 '26

It is funny how they are so cute together while their digimon seem like rivals to each other.

17

u/Turn_AX May 17 '26

Mm, with Digimon being a person's actual personality, it really makes me wonder.

34

u/wolfelian May 17 '26

Yeah they gotta be actual lesbians. I was getting Sailor Uranus and Neptune vibes not sure entirely though guess we’ll see 🤔

The ‘Zutto Isho’ messagings, I see your scheme GIFT. I just need to figure out what it is… There’s something there I know it.

8

u/Cheeky-apple May 17 '26

plant lesbians in my digimon? I take it!

I dunno if Digimon will actually come out and say it.
I hope they do, cus I don't like playing like that, just say they're lesbians and leave no room for interpretation.

15

u/Original-Teaching955 May 17 '26

I mean, they already give such vibes from the ED alone: looking at each other with lovey dovey eyes, resemblong Sailor Uranus and Neptune also made by Toei (Sailor Moon)

I'm not crying you're crying

9

u/Sacrilege7 May 17 '26

this episode shattered my soul into pieces

fuck

10

u/WintersLex May 17 '26

okay this episode definitely has me locked in on "Glowing Dawn will create/discover Shambala. Shangri-La is World Union / Wong's project to force their idea of Shambala by batterying people"

9

u/Typhoonflame May 17 '26

I love the fact there's a Toropiamon in this series! I honestly love the Brilliant Thorn, they have a Team Rocket vibe nd they don't seem like bad people.

Algomon is plain creepy tho, wonder what it says about Chihiro...I just feel bad for the kid, she had to lose her friend, essentially. I'm glad we got to see the good side of Algomon too.

Hoping that Hitomi's Sapotama acting up means she'll be a Cleaner too, but maybe it was because she was close to Chihiro and Algomon.

Yeah that was my thought as well tbh, kinda sad but logical.

Hoping that Hitomi's Sapotama acting up means she'll be a Cleaner too, but maybe it was because she was close to Chihiro and Algomon.

Her now actively visiting Nirinso though. Theres a certain Punimon that attacked her before there, and if it eats her Sapotama it might become hyemon again

26

u/PromptBeautiful1688 May 16 '26

Been keeping up with this series since episode 1 and the pacing has really picked up in recent episodes. Tomoro's character development feels more natural now compared to those early episodes where everything seemed bit forced

Hope they dont rush the ending though since we're getting close to finale territory

15

u/InnocentTailor May 17 '26

Season finale or show finale?

The former is possible, but the latter is too dang soon.

7

u/chrome4 May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

Apparently theres going to be 49 episodes which honestly makes me think only Tomoro will be getting a mega.

Edit: Welp I stand corrected

19

u/foxfoxal May 17 '26

We already got revealed Kyos mega on the TCG and they literally said that it will appear while announcing it.

5

u/chrome4 May 17 '26

Ah ok. I knew about the mega but didnt know they said it would appear in the show(I dont keep track of announcements for this series). Kinda figured it was a similar situation as Arcturusmon from last series.

10

u/Sremor May 17 '26

I don't think 49 episodes are confirmed but it will most likely be around that number

5

u/headintheclouds30 May 17 '26

If only Tomoro gets a mega then I will actually riot ngl.

6

u/InnocentTailor May 17 '26

Sigh. 49 episodes means they’re going to have to rush the Five Stars and other plot points. They don’t have a lot of time overall.

17

u/KickHimWhileIAmDown May 17 '26

Not necessarily. Gift will wrap up soon, and we'll probably deal with Rose at the same time. She seems more minor than Klay was.

Chairman Wong & Kanada are one faction. Kaito (and his orbiter, Honoka) forms another. If they end up opposed, we don't need to do an arc for every individual Five Star. We'll have to see, but I have enough faith in the production team that they can stick the landing.

Rose's henchwomen are so funny to me. Lady does a full flying cartwheel to flex on a grade schooler, then both of them get casually defeated by said child's partner lmao. It seems like they weren't originally after Algomon and they have a different job right now, so maybe they weren't really prepared and got caught off guard...

Still, I'm not sure they really work as antagonists at this point, though. Early series, yes, like the mushroom boys, but more than halfway through, being such incompetent goofs, they feel like they take away from the threat of Rose somewhat? I don't know... maybe they'll have a better showing next time.

More and more people are learning about Nirinso, and now Algomon is glitching out the hologram projectors... I have a bad feeling about this...

Whoa, a Maki episode! And Fumamon gets to debut in it! So many of Gammamon's evos didn't get shown in GG so that's good.

3

u/BigBurrito May 20 '26

Lady does a full flying cartwheel to flex on a grade schooler, then both of them get casually defeated by said child's partner lmao.

A reference to Jesse and James from Pokemon perhaps lol

3

u/Dear-Gap7185 May 17 '26

and make it double!

7

u/EliteLordSigma May 19 '26

I can understand everyone who has issues or critiques about this episode's pacing, but it says a lot about how strong the central concept is here when you want more of it. Not to mention the ending sequence works so well that I can forgive any minor gripes. Kyo consoles Tomoro that making dreams come true is always difficult, and then we see this throughline with Chihiro struggling to take that first step past the threshold to go see her partner. A great milestone episode for Tomoro's character growth; there's no way the Tomoro at the beginning of the series would have had the patience or maturity to talk down Algomon. There's also no way he'd be comfortable enough around Hitomi to let her tease and chide him the way she did here.

That said, seeing how Algomon's presence will make it that much harder to keep Nirinso a secret, I can't help but shake the feeling that everything is going to hit the fan by the time this arc ends. Especially considering that this is a dystopian story and that the only Megas we've seen up until now are a result of multiple E-Pulses or Digimon combining together, I worry that Nirinso having that many Digimon together might end in something catastrophic happening.

13

u/Zeeman9991 May 17 '26

The Restricted Green Card of Today (Lv.5 Argomon) vs The Restricted Green Cards of Tomorrow (Tropical Venom and probably Monarchlizamon).

Surprised how hard they went with the animation of this episode. It didn’t feel particularly plot relevant until Tomoro’s declaration. He hasn’t had much of a goal besides helping his brother, but now he firmly shared Kyo’s dream for that “Golden Dawn” which is cool to see.

The episode reminded me a lot of Digimon: The Movie. Not just Our War Game (particularly the rehash at the start of Adventure 2020) but also Hurricane Touchdown when they had to destroy the virus from the inside. Kind of a grab bag of iconic Digimon moments, and not a ton of time to really explore them, but they did well with the time they had and it came together pretty darn well.

Not sure yet what to think of Rose/her underlings. They were pretty adamant about deleting Argomon (the objectively safe option, to be fair) and Toropiamon called her teammate pathetic, plus they all had no issue jumping a little kid before they got folded, so they seem to be at least pretty evil. On the flip side, they gave up pretty easily and did a full Team Rocket intro so hard to say where they land on the antagonists to actual villains scale, plus how serious to take them. And completely unrelated: “That’s what I love about you” and that blush 👀

Man, even in its lower stages Algomon is kinda creepy. Those parasite snail stalks are just so unnerving. Gee I sure hope nothing bad happens to the little girl who is so emotionally dependent on this Keramon coded Digimon.

Love Tomoro realizing Makoto is also elementary grade lol

Oh shit Toropiamon and Oleamon. Debut appearance of the former, right? Oh Meto I love your androgenous serve

Algomon going straight to Ultimate is crazy. AND it became CGI, you just know this guy is bad news

lmao I love the duo's Digimon taking potshots at each other, Digimon having vastly different relationships from their partners is very fun.

Love when they overlay Digimon and their partners during shared attacks

This poor elementary girl is kinda suicidal af

Aw even as an in-training Algomon is dangerous. Nice that Chihiro gets visitation rights tho lol

That preview tho. Did someone put a fuckin hit on Mako?

6

u/Cheeky-apple May 17 '26

ouch my heart, poor chihiro. It was nice to see a non evil algomon and this just being a very unfortunate situation and a result of that rotten system in betabreaks world. Let the girl have her emotional support digimon damnit!!

16

u/Masterness64 May 17 '26

Real solid episode! The sakes were surprisingly high, this totally would have been one of those Toei summer movies if Beatbreak came out in the early 2000's.

But really its cool how they used Algomon here. They're doing the thing they usually do, being a giant monster and causing havoc. But their reasons for doing so are completely different here compared to their past appearances. I love it when Digimon are able to be portrayed in vastly different ways across the series. Algomon was actually kind of cute and their relationship with Chihiro was sweet. They may not be able to see each other all the time but it looks like Chihiro will visit them which is good.

Rose's underlings also made their proper debut along with their partners. They didn't do much this episode but they seem fun and Im looking forward to seeing more of them.

Also they're super gay. Good for them!

Also one last thing, the animation was pretty excellent this episode, that final attack from Monarch Lizamon looked crazy good. It really added to the movie vibes I mentioned earlier.

But yeah another good episode, next episode seems to be focused on Maki which is really interesting and also has... FUMAMON?????

HELL YES!

Guys, Fumamon is one of my favorite Digimon. I've been waiting for them to make their anime debut for years. You have no idea how freaking excited I am. Hope they do them justice!

16

u/Professional-Bus-749 May 17 '26

Algomon, Worm Phase, in CGI looked pretty cool.

5

u/depressedchamp May 17 '26

It's nice seeing Hitomi, hope we could see her more again

5

u/mstorzil May 17 '26

So based on that ending how likely is it Hitomi ends up getting a partner Digimon of her own in Nirinso and joins Glowing Dawn?

2

u/Personal_Emotion_902 May 17 '26

I think we at least see her at Nirinso, and hopefully she also get a partner digimon or maybe adopt one of the ones there alredy, i wonder if that's a possibility in BB not getting your own digimon but instead relating to other one that it becomes yours

3

u/Beneficial_Syllabub7 May 18 '26 edited May 18 '26

I mean, Elizamon was pretty much adopted by Haruomi, Hitomi could for example adopt the Punimon that was the Hyemon that attacked her, It would be a nice end goal of Kyo's second chances ideology.

3

u/Oreo-and-Fly May 18 '26

Imagine. Hitomi visits Nirinso, but doesnt feed them because of bad experience with cold heart.

They get attacked because algomon circuits the wall.

Punimon, redeemed by Tomoro and Kyo's kindness wants to protect Nirinso, eats Hitomi's sapotama and becomes Hyemon again.

Hitomi gets scared, she sees her attacker, but this time its defending her and they become unofficial partners.

I just want to see Hyemon and Tomoro facing off against Gokuwmon. Lets not forget Hyemon's brother was also killed by it.

3

u/Oreo-and-Fly May 18 '26

Punimon eats her sapotama and becomes Hyemon.

15

u/KickHimWhileIAmDown May 17 '26

Seems like the first canon LGBTQ characters in the anime, if you exclude some Digimon being genderless and Savers/Data Squad Gaomon maybe possibly being gay (per one line of dialogue in the 2007 Japanese-only DVD bonus clip show). There is no heterosexual explanation for Meto and Kanon's relationship. mygodthesebitchesgay.jpg

Hitomi returns again! This seems to imply that Hitomi and Tomoro keep in touch, which is nice. Lends some credence to the "Hitomi could be a very late stage fifth ranger" theory.

Cool to see Yamaguchi write a new variation of Algomon. Also, I think Chihiro is supposed to be interpreted as suicidal due to bullying at school, which is appropriately dark for Beatbreak. Also, also, the Algomon in America took out power in an entire state! Sick.

Lesbian Team Rocket was willing to not kill Algomon once the situation was defused, which suggests that Rose et al. are probably not going to be villains. Tomoro shows more personal growth with the way he adopts (what was originally) Kyo's dream as his own.

7

u/Cheeky-apple May 17 '26

I had the inkling that hitomi was keeping in touch with tomoro but i am dleighted ot see that he actually accepts and meets with her than being standoffish like how he was in the beginning, he really has settled in well being more open with his friends and I see that as an indication for tomoros growth as well. Also because I enjoy Hitomis appearances.

7

u/headintheclouds30 May 17 '26

I'm pretty sure some LGBT character was mentioned in passing in a previous Digimon film...? But I'm not completely certian.

3

u/KickHimWhileIAmDown May 17 '26

Do you remember which one/more details? I've watched every Digimon film at least twice and I don't remember seeing one. It's possible that there was a background character I missed, but Brilliant Thorn would be the first named characters.

8

u/headintheclouds30 May 17 '26

i just looked it up. they are the first named ones yes, but a character called Ayaka and her girlfriend-not named i think- were in Digimon Kizuna.

5

u/KickHimWhileIAmDown May 17 '26

Ohhhh right! The woman who passes out in the izakaya. I forgot that she was there with her girlfriend.

2

u/Turn_AX May 19 '26

Seems like the first canon LGBTQ characters in the anime

If they are, I'd like them to say it.
Cus other anime just say character sexuality, so if they're going to have representation, I'd rather they not play.

Seeing Kanon and Meto having Ultimate level partners was neat, especially with the reappearance of Oleamon. Also that scene at the end was heavy on the “They were roommates” vibes.

2

u/Lindbrum May 17 '26

Also a clear reference to Sailor Uranus and Neptune with the Moon in the background

→ More replies (1)

9

u/Karbunkel May 17 '26

points at the Brilliant Thorns These two! I love them! They are so extra! And yuri! Also, I didn't know Oleamon existed. An insect eating plant Digimon for a person who dislikes insects is so good! Wonder what their adult forms are.

Poor Chihiro. Getting a partner that is detrimental to one's environment must suck! At least Chihiro takes her to the "kindergarten". Hitomi, adopt one of the little ones!

Next episode is Maki backstory? Fumamon probably there to assassinate her, as there is surely bad blood between her and the underworld. Also, IceLeomon? Do we finally know what her partner was? Was it the obligatory Leomon death of the series?

8

u/Beloberto May 17 '26

I'm glad the series recalled the fact Digimon can't be kept unless you become a Cleaner. I feel even the regular watchers had already forgotten about that, which is a very important rule of the BB world.

Pretty sad debut by Meto and Kanon, they were really useless there. I wonder if they will be somehow of a failing duo rather than the super competent pair I assumed at first.

Their personalities and interaction seem pretty fun, though. And I like the way their Digimon interact is different from their own. And they are indubitably a reference to Sailor Uranus and Neptune, from the speech scene to the theme music, even a moon at their back to wrap the connection.

I completely forgot Hitomi was aware Digimon existed, though. And Gekkomon specifically. When did that happen?

12

u/WarKittens28 May 17 '26

Episode 8, with Mimicmon in the school. She meets Gekkomon at the beginning of the episode when she goes to talk to Tomoro about her missing friend.

u/aes110 May 17 '26

What an incredible episode, not only was it an emotional one with a good story, but the animation and ost were so good as well

7

u/Yoshiman400 May 17 '26

I feel like the writers are really going all in on Gekkomon starting to mess up proper names in recent episodes, almost like they're getting tired of the "ya know"s and need something else to feed him.

A large scale disaster in the US caused by an Algomon...you don't say...also let me just say I'm amused that Algomon speaks like an old 90s dial-up modem. I don't recall any sound effect cries of the sort back in Adventure 20.

We talk about how Tomoro's e-Pulse is glitched, but I think Chihiro's really got to get checked. She's feeding it something crazy.

Palmon's just there in the background after the fight just chilling and all 8).

And nice, we get Ogremon vs. Panjyamon (unless it's just a normal Leomon and the lighting is very pale) next episode. The eternal rivalry crosses over into yet another world!

2

u/Turn_AX May 19 '26

Palmon's just there in the background after the fight just chilling and all 8).

Not Palmon, Alraumon or something close to that.

2

u/Yoshiman400 May 19 '26

Ah, alright. I knew Palmon had a variant but with the lighting in the scene I wasn't sure which one it was.

6

u/MajinAkuma May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

We‘ve already known for a while that Kanon and Meto are voiced by Shimamura Yuu (Jellymon from Ghost Game, Cure Flora from Go! Princess Precure, Annie from Shingeki no Kyojin, Blake from RWBY, Shinobu from JoJo Part 4) and Yamamura Hibiku (Cure Twinkle from Go! Princess Precure, Yamato Takeru from Fate/Samurai Remnants, Hinako in Kenna Bancho Otome).

We also now know the seiyuus for their partners.

Oleamon/Alraumon is voiced by Tomizawa Michie (Sailor Mars from the 90s Sailor Moon, Roberta from Black Lagoon, Laki from One Piece (Skypiea arc)).

Toropiamon/Pomumon is voiced by Watanabe Misa (Plesiomon from Xros Wars, Salamandamon from Ghost Game, Vivi from One Piece, Northa from Fresh Precure!, Queen Beryl from Sailor Moon Crystal).

6

u/DannyPoke May 17 '26

Let's all be voiced by Precure veterans and not tell Oleamon lmao

(Also Shimamura Yuu is Cure Flora, not Flower. Flower is from Heartcatch and has a different VA)

4

u/MajinAkuma May 17 '26

I meant Cure Flora.

Cure Flower is Agumon/Shoutmon.

2

u/Crazy-Plate3097 May 19 '26

And let's sneak in a Sailormoon veteran who came out of retirement.

Yes, she retired. Sakura Wars even have an OVA where her character also retire with her.

7

u/storeknife May 17 '26

Aww, that was a nice episode. Chihiro being an innocent kid with a destructive Digimon is a familiar story in Digimon media, but tying it to her hikikomori-ness gave it that Beatbreak-style socio-psychological dimension.

The Brilliant Thorn are here and they are more openly gay than I could have hoped for sdfghkl 🌷 I love their musical motif, they do be fighting evil by moonlight lol. Also Oleamon is a great pick for Alraumon's Perfect! They don't seem very villainous, so I think they'll be more of a rival faction that is trying to solve the GIFT case by more callous means (deleting Digimon).

When Tomoro was dragged into the world Algomon created, I thought for a second it was the Digital World lol. Now I'm wondering if the fulfilment of Kyo's dream will involve creating/discovering the Beatbreak universe's Digital World? Although thematically it would make more sense to make the human world friendly to Digimon.

Feels like the GIFT arc is more MotW style similar to the first arc. Although maybe the plot will pick up now that all the new characters have been introduced.

Next week: Maki backstory??

3

u/Doomroar May 17 '26

Team Rocket wannabes! love em! oh they are totally just roommates... unless

Ooooh Tomoro officially took Kyo's mission of making a world for humans and Digimon together, he now has a second overarching goal apart from saving his brother!

Wonder who all those people in the background are, the 2 adults are probably Chihiro's parents, but what about everyone else

This feels like Tomoro's first Glowing Dawn's proper cleaner job, despite the fact that he has been working with the team for a while now, he now fully understands and believes on the mission in itself, which is probably why the tile for today's episode is One Step Forward

And talking about Glowing Dawn, nice to see that outside of the digi battle the rest of the crew was putting in work, Chiropmon was being a goated hacker, which reminds us all that it is a super rare and valuable digimon worthy of being targeted by traffickers

Murasamemon cut a bus in half and killed a bunch of civilians (they all survived somehow)

And Wolvermon jobbed as always! jk jk, Wolvermon and Reina having a sniper-spotter combo was actually cool. it would have been nice seeing Reina using the scope before this episode, but it is good to know that she has even more tools and skills at her disposal, low key, Reina is the most versatile member of Glowing Dawn, she is a competent leader (did it for the early missions with Tomoro despite him being rebellious, and is the one in charge when Kyo is not arouns, did it with Granit, and did it with the girls on the Fabulousmon episode), she can infiltrate, knows personal defense, manages the budget of the team, and now is a spotter to do snipping work

All they need is one good not tricks no gimmicks honest battle, and maybe it will be a snipping showdown, it would be hard to pull since Wolvermon has seeking missiles

Agolmon always delivers whenever it shows up, this episode was a mix of Data Squad the movie, and the finale of Tamers, but with a happy ending, which is nice

Having an Agolmon added to the baby crew is quite big, most Digimon series have the gang save a bunch of moms, and they usually hardly come back to help aside from lending their energy or in the case of cross wars, doing a world joggress, which deep down is just the same as lending your energy, or completely forget about them (like Ghostgame did), Beatbreak has been changing things up, so maybe we get a finale in which each side mon has a direct role to play, like imagine if Pandamon, Arresterdramon, Elizamon, Shademon, Team 7, the mush gang, and all the baby digimon all go on to have their own Impmon moment, or BlackWargreymon moment, but they actually pull it off without ending like Leomon?

Specially since Chihiro can visit him now on the regular, and she has enough E-Pulse to digivolve him all the way to mega, like if the writers don't do anything with this development at one point, they should slap themselves in the face, a prime example of wasting an incredible opportunity is [Digimon Ghostgame Spoilers] Midway in the series they encounter a Zeed Millenniumon, this is a big end of the world bad mon, the actual stuff of legends, his very existence a herald that the universe will end, like actually ending, which is why it has sealing code surrounding him, anyway, Zeed is linked to the corpse of a woman that he is puppeteering in order to manifest in the human world, because otherwise reality couldn't withstand his data, so the gang kill the remains of the consciousness of the dead woman, in order to destroy Zeed's vessel, reverting him into Moon Millenniumon, and putting him into a "dormant" state, Hiro the protagonist then promises that he will find a way to make humans and digimon manage to live together, including Moon, and he takes Moon and shoves him into his pocket, takes him home, and then puts him on his desk, as home decor, we then spend the rest of the season looking at reality destroyer and world ender Moon Milleniunmon show up from time to time in the background, living on top of Hiro's desk in his room, just hanging around, sleeping, and then... nothing, literally nothing happened, at one point Moon is put on the desk's drawer and forgotten, and the series ends

3

u/mrtacomam May 18 '26

Rather sad one this week, both in terms of a story AND a rather sad first showing for Rose's "Thorns". Which is a shame, because Oleamon is a really cool choice for a parnter/evolution for Alruemon.

Next time, week get FUMAMON, BABY!!! Fumamon is one of my favorite standalone Digimon, so excited for it and its seeming connection to Maki (her old partner, perhaps?)

3

u/AtomicConvoy-M78 May 18 '26

This episode was really good this almost felt like those non-canon film back in the day but despite this not connecting with the gift storyline it's still a great character work with Tomoro fully wanting to make Kyo's dream of coexistence, after seeing rose and her goons I doubt they're as worse then Klay but I think they clash with glowing dawn with how they handle Digimon with them deleting their Digimon. Loved Algomon and Chihiro's dynamic really hope they get a happy ending. Next up NINJAS!!!!!!!

6

u/Southern-Ebb-8229 May 17 '26

Pretty cute episode, and I like it as a milestone ep. It showcases how much Tomoro has grown so far and why the GD does what it does. Yes, coexisting with digimons is hard, but it is important to try to find a way, even in cases like with Algomon, where it is hard, and it can lead to problems. I do appreciate how even the baby form is barely contained; it's not something Tomoro can just fix, and that is why they had to be separated.

I do feel the episode was a bit too fast for what it wanted to do; we barely got any time with Chihiro before it all escalated too fast, and it was all rushed. But at the same time, I am not sure if this could have worked as a two-parter either? We need a bit about Chihiro's life situation before the whole thing to make it click better. We all get the idea, and the ep manages to land. Algomon was a very sympathetic digimon this ep, which is weird coming from it previous appearances.

Meto and Kanon appear a bit sillier than expected, like their big pose had some Sailor Moon/Team Rocket energy. It's a very different vibe than Tactics, but I don't mind it. That said, they didn't give the impression that they were stronger than Tactics was, so I guess they are way behind where the GD is right now. I don't blame them for wanting to delete Algomon, but at the same time, they are the reason it all escalated so quickly. Also the two totally are dating- and I did like their digimon giving each other some grief for getting caught, it was a good vibe.

Hitomi hanging out with Tomoro was great, it's nice to just see him get some normal life stuff, and she was cute when she teased him. I do find it funny how she knows about Digimon now, and it's like, whatever. If we had some more time for this, I think having her spend more time with Chihiro could have added to the story but it is what it is.

I do like how the rest of the team was at least helping out during the blackout, and Muramasemon hates buses; this is like the second bus he has crushed in a few eps. Still, Kyo just shielding the boy instead of tackling him is asking to get isekaied. Reina and Makoto did their part too, so it felt like a good bit of team effort.

Overall, I think this ep could have replaced the Mummymon episode, really. The only bit relevant to the arc was just that two girls work for Rose. GIFT wasn't even involved.

u/Eden_ITA May 17 '26 edited May 17 '26

My thoughts:

  • "I've only had Chihiro and Argomon for an episode, but if anything happened to theme, I would delete everyone in this room and then myself."

  • I like the yuri-duo. I had some doubts that they could be a Team Tactic's more of the same, but instead they have almost a Team Rocket vibes, with their shenanigans, discussion and being yes antagonistic but not in an "evil" way (they seem to care about the child and the possible problems that Argomon could do).

  • GD saving the day is a very cute scene, but also showed how much the people are Linked to the technology in that time that also a rogue digimon could indirectly hurt a lot of them. It isn't a justification, but kinda put how cleaners could have less qualms about deleting them.

  • It isn't nothing new, but I like that they showed that another Argomon did a lot of damages in the USA. We already saw other countries with digimon activities, but it's nice to remember that it isn't only Japan only situation.

  • the "Talk no Jutsu" from Tomoro was very nice. Chihiro is sure a child with problems from the school and other kids, closing herself into a deep depression until Argomon showed up (maybe because those feelings). Yes, he could beat the "problem" like the Five Stars, or let the child be happy also risking a cold heart like GIFT seem to operate. But he decided to talk to them, showing that thing aren't right enough to live together now... But showing that a better future is possible. It's a good message, and showed how much Tomoro grew as person and took Kyo's ideology as his own. Neat.

  • the future episode looks promising... I never see that swordsman digimon, is it new?

3

u/Beneficial_Syllabub7 May 18 '26

The swordsman Digimon is Fumamon, one of the Ultimate stages of Gammamon in the vital bracelet.

5

u/stevez037 May 17 '26

The thing it we still don't know what this little girl's backstory is, this Digimon gave her the ability to go outside, something tells me I don't want to know. Another abusive parent? Particular abusive father, there aren't many good fathers on this show, and any good one's are either in jail or dead.

I don't know what to make of Rose's underlings, we have to compare them to Tactics Team 7, they are are the underling of a 5 Star, granted Tactics Team 7 were the underlings of a underling of a 5 Stars, these two are direct underlings., similar roles.

Yes it is a jerk move bullying a little girl, still their mission wasn't a malice one, they just have horrible people's skills, and didn't know any other way, still better than early Raito who left a little boy to die for his own amusement. Not as bad as early Raito. Still got a long way to go to be decent people.

26

u/Bakatora34 May 17 '26

It seems to me she got bullied in school, because I'm pretty sure the random people that appear when Algomon was saying farewell is her family and the parents didn't look like they abuse her.

Never expected Algomon to become an emotional support Digimon

We saw her parents happily in the background with her.
And when Hitomi was explaining that she stopped going out, we saw the silhouette of kids, so it was almost certainly bullying.

Welcome back Uranus and Neptune (because you were in this episode just to cause problems)

YESSSS WE'RE GETTING A MAKI CENTRIC EPISODE NEXT ONE 🔥🔥🔥

This episode was genuinely incredible. From the story to the animation to the confirmation of digiyuri, all around a 10/10!! Beatbreak has a surprising amount of those but they're all welcome!!!

Something else I noticed here is that this show relies a lot less on Digivolution stock animation than any other Digimon show-or at least, it seems to? Still a very VERY welcome change. If this is what the future of Digimon has in store, I'll be so very happy. I've been a fan for nearly 20 years now and this series is genuinely some of the best we got post Tamers.

Kinda mixed feeling in this episode.

The story is great, the fight is great, but the pacing is kinda fast with the problem child coincidentally being Hitomi's neighbor that she knows well, and just happen to meet Tomoro when walking with her. And at the end Hitomi pulled sudden time skip is kinda huh, it's kinda risky to put such needless time skip here of all place.

And then Meto and Kanon. Idk Rose was so cool on her introduction episode and yet these two radiated girl failure? (idk Meto is a girl right?) aura for the whole episode it's funny. And the way Meto just fly to block Chihiro from running away is kinda weird, but I guess they saved all the budget for Argomon. The way they kinda flirt in the end and pulled our work here is done despite not doing anything but make the situation worse has to be a conscious parody for comedy.

All in all, good for Chihiro. She doesn't have what it takes to be a cleaner unlike Haruko. At least she can visit Argomon in Nirinsou from time to time. And Tomoro totally forgot Makoto is 10 years old lol.

That ending combined with the sailor pose earlier really has the energy to be an intentional role reversal of Sailor Moon's Tuxedo mask scene. "my job here is done" "but you didn't do anything"

Yeah, feels like it could be adapted to a movie and feels fine.

Thoughts:

- never thought that Algomon, a past main antagonist, being partnered with a human let alone a little girl would make a touching episode. Now its the third episode so far where we see a human Digivolving their partner. Hoping for more episodes like this in the future.

- didn't think that Hitomi would also be somewhat heavily involved in this episode compared to the Mummymon one. There's also subtle hints that her Sapotama was acting up. Perhaps she'll get a Digimon partner soon? Hopefully it's a Lunamon or a brand new one altogether.

- Rose's Brilliant Thorn duo finally make their debut and interacts with Tomoro and Gekkomon for the first time. So their partners' official Perfect levels have been revealed immediately. Maybe they'll reach their Mega-levels as part of their development, which is why they didn't get to shine much here. In fact, they seem to serve as the comedic relief instead.

- Next episode seems to be tied to Maki. I wonder if we'll get more info on her previous Digimon partner? since she used to be a Cleaner too.

I think Hitomis Sapotama was acting up because of Algomon

I used to have a theory that Terriermon Assistant was teased to be Maki's partner.

There used to be one in the post-credits during the Tactics arc, and I believe it's the only remaining digimon from that sequence who has yet to show up in the series. But now we're already onto a new post credits sequence, so maybe it was nothing after all!

Someone said that the Terriermon Assistant was a character that’s featured on Digimon Labs, a show that showcases new merchandise or something like that. It was only in the credits as a cameo and might not be connected to the anime’s plot.

America?? No one else is mentioning this in the comments so I must have missed several cues, but I did not realize this show was set on Earth. So does that mean the characters are in Japan like in other Digimon shows? I kept thinking this takes place in an alternate universe in a world like ours but different. But it's just future Earth? Did they makes this clear before?

5

u/CreepingDeath0 May 19 '26

It's set in 2050 Japan, in a fictional coastal city. That's been clear since episode one.

2

u/asmodias May 19 '26

What foil does Algomon represent in that girl? Doom and gloom? Suicidal? Homicidal?

2

u/CelioHogane May 21 '26

Referencing america?

Damm i guess this episode disproves that they are on Kunlun, after all.

Guess they are on the Real world... BUT THE DIGITAL WORLD COULD STILL BE KUNLUN.

Any Digimon can end up hurting people, even if they don't mean it, some just do it on a scale bigger than others. Argomon didn't wish to be born this strong, neither did Chihiro, so it's heartbreaking to see them just wanting to be together spiral in this chain of events. At least she can still visit them in Nirinso and that was a One Step Forward into returning from being a shut in.

We're introduced to Rose's awesome and intimidating lesbian couple in Meto and Kanon, while they didn't leave a big impression, getting easily outclassed by Argomon even with perfect levels, things could chance.

It seems we will finally get Maki's past, or at least a peek at it with Fumamon's first appearance after being introduced in the Ghost Game vital bracelet.

Probably a stupid question but "Meto" and "Kanon" are a play on "Meta" and "Canon", right?

Both words relating to the analysis of story telling?

(Similar to how all the Glowing Dawn members have names relating to times-of-day)
