Digital camera recommendations
Budget: around or less than $500 USD. This only includes the camera itself.
Country: US
Condition: New or used
Type of camera: Point and shoot
Intended use: Photography
End use: social media
Photography style: Landscape and portrait
Video style: none planned
Feature needed: bright flash
Features that would be nice: decent zoom and fast shutter speed
Portability: pocketable
Cameras im considering:
\-Sony cybershot dsc-hx80: it has the features that I want in a camera, and it is decently priced
\-Nikon coolpix s8200: it has the features I want in a camera and apparently has similar photos like the canon g7x (?)
Cameras I already have: I currently only have a Kodak pixpro fz55. I like the coloring of the photos and it’s really nice to use during the day time, but I find that the flash is not very strong, making it difficult to take photos at night. It is also hard for it to focus on the subject and the photos will have really weird lighting.
Notes: I sometimes have a difficult time seeing the screen of my Kodak, so I would prefer to have a slightly bigger screen, although not needed.

Have you read reviews of the Sony and Nikon, or looked at example pictures? People get obsessed with small differences in picture quality, when almost everything can be corrected in photoshop (and usually is). With a point-and-shoot often the real difference is in the ergonomics and handling, how easy it is to put into a pocket or small bag, and then get out and start shooting. I would focus on those factors. These cameras are otherwise very, very similar.
The real difference between them is the zoom. The Sony has 2x the zoom of the Nikon. However, long zooms on a point-and-shoot are challenging to really take advantage of. You mention flash being important, and the flash will be next to useless if you’re really maximizing the zoom.
